REVIEW: Peggle (PC)
I've always been a fan of casual games. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that, despite having lost my soul to a variety of MMOs, the major drawback to most of the newer MMOs is the time expenditure required to enjoy the WHOLE of the game. However, a wonderfully fun game you can just pick up and put down at will is a great diversion.
Hence I love Peggle. In all honesty, I got through the entire "adventure" mode my first night with the game. But the replay value in the game, trying different techniques and beating old high scores, as well as getting the "Master Trophy" on special boards with additional pegs... fun fun fun! The basis of the game is much like Bubble Bobble or Zuma (combined with pinball-like elements), you have a little canon-type thing that shoots out a ball in the direction you point it, and then much like Bob Barker's Plinko, the ball bounces and falls through pegs and blocks down to the bottom. There are blue pegs (most pegs are blue), orange pegs (that you have to hit them all to clear the board), green pegs (two per board, activates special powers... see below) and purple pegs (one each ball toss, it gets randomly implanted inside a remaining blue peg) that increases the point value for that ball. At the bottom of the screen is a bucket that travels side to side. If the ball lands in the bucket (or you score more than 50,000 points for that ball) you earn a free ball as well. Getting additional balls can be critical for tricky boards. On each group of 5 boards, you have a new "guide" that have different special powers that you are granted when you hit the green pegs. That's a pretty rough description, but it's really quite entertaining! I recommend it highly! |
EXTREME FEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pretty fun game! |
Anyone else playing Peggle these days? Or it's baby brother, Peggle Nights?
|
I play peggle when I have a few minutes here and there... I love that I can pick up and not commit to a lengthy time... peggle nights???? oh I'll have to look for that.
|
I haven't played Peggle Nights yet.. but I know Peggle was EXTREMELY addicting for me. I couldn't stop playing that game. It finally took system cleanup/uninstall to get rid of it. I haven't looked back, for fear of never stopping.
