Um, *cough* How about posting one of your own strategies?

Anyway - Spleen's Plan of Attack and Defence
1) Control Austrailia as soon as possible, and set up defenses in the country in Asia that blocks Austrailia (the name escapes me). Why Austrailia? Its basically a free 2 armies every round. Thats really good at the beginning of the game. The only downside is that you have to fight your way though Asia to get anywhere, and people can easily team up and wipe out the Guinea isles. boooo.

Have you tried Risk 2210? It adds the moon and water territories that allow different access to the continents. It is a lot of fun.

Another cool game to try is Diplomacy. A lot more stratgey then risk but takes forever to play.

Risk is an awesome game. One strategy useful when you want to stop playing is video taping the board. My friends and I did this and we all agreed it was a good idea. We never finished the game, but if we wanted to, we could.

Axis and Allies is a great one. Risk strategys depend on what territories you draw at the start. Just do whatever it takes to control a continent and hold it and prevent the others from doing the same.

It's all about taking australia or South america.

Once you have that those two extra armies are going to make a HUGE differnce. Then start pushing into the country of your choice.

I try to get my hands on north america, if I can. It's very easy to defend - I think there are only three ways in there, and with those extra armies you get each round, you can set up a perfect perimeter defense. And once you haven north-america, you can always push into south-america easily, and still only have to defend in three places.

Getting north-america first has always been the way I win a game of risk. I even try to get it if it's not on my mission card.

heh, It didn't matter what countries you owned in the games I participated in, it all boiled down to how much weed you could handle :-)

Oz is a great starting point though. And its been said before go for the NA continent...

Axis & Allies and Diplomacy >> Risk

Still, I like Risk as well. Can't say I have a strategy though *shrug*

Sorry about that spleen, just kinda forgot. Anyway, I think that south america/north america are key points. From there you can access many different places. Australia is okay for defending, but you can easily become trapped if you control the one directly above the entrance to AU (forget the name.) Diplomacy is key as well, don't say you are going to kill someone unless you actualy plan to do it, becuase they will then try to kill you.

depends on your starting point, but either go for SA or Aus.

I love Axis and Allies. Only problem (much like risk) is it's hard to find enough people to play and who have the attention span to *finish*

I LOVE Axis & Allies. I've been playing it since it came out. I have Samurai Swords, but I have an ORIGINAL print of the game, back when it was called SHOGUN. Also I have Fortress America, which is a game set in the near future sometime where the USA is being invaded from the east, west, and south. Funny thing is, Saddam Hussein (or someone who looks REALLY like him) is on the box.

Here's a good article about the MB GameMaster series that included these games.

Decent multiplayer online RISK

It's shareware, cripples the computer AI for singleplayer after 28 days, but still functional... not sure if multiplayer gets wiped or not.

I love Risk... I'd play it a lot more, but it's always such a pain to find enough dedicate players. Anyway, I tend to have the most success by trying to hold S. America and Africa. Get whichever you can first, then go nuts getting the other, then figure out which is the best way to go after that. However, what I think is more fun is piling up in Europe, and trying to claim to everyone that you're just a buffer zone. Whenever you attack, assure them you're not planning on a war, but just keeping your little hold in the middle of the world safe. It only works once with each group of people though

I, as well can only use the europe excuse about once every year or two. If I can finagle it, I like to grab both Oz and south america.

Can I get a link to Diplomacy, I haven't heard of it.
