Hate to say it, but Gears of War. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game. The single player and co-op is awesome. However, the multiplayer has so many issues right now that I can't even bear to play it; so I let a friend borrow it for a bit. Don't really know if it would be considered overrated, but I definitely think it was overhyped.

Crash Bandicoot. I dont know why but everyone loved it. I thought that game was completely stupid. The game has no plot and was completely linear. Definately the most overly rated game.

Lets see....
Halo 1,2 and soon to be 3. I fail to see why these became so popular, NOTHING was new! Sadly TES:Oblivion turned out to be crap for the most part. Just another PC game gone sellout to Console-Land and fucked it all up. Neverwinter Nights 2 - This one just didnt pull through, it was an ok game... but geez did they rush it. All the sequals to GTA, the first was great but try making something different after that! Anything beyond Quake 2 - dont bother unless you only enjoy eye-candy. Hell even the soundtracks got lame. Thats good enough for now.

Zelda series for me. If a new Zelda game is released with a new name, I believe it will not score high compare to a game with the name Zelda in it. I like the zelda series, I had been playing Zelda since the nes days. All the zelda after Ocarina of time is good, but not excellent like the old days IMO.

Tekken series - I've always had a grudge against Tekken. I haven't enjoyed ANY of the tekken games, the control scheme, the "dial a combo" style moves. Virtua Fighter eclipses this series in every way, except for crazy japanese character designs. Tekken has VF beat there. I can't say that's a GOOD thing though.
Dance Dance Revolution - I'll admit, I enjoy playing DDR. A place I used to work at had a DDR machine, and I spent several dollars playing it. But... some people literally OBSESS over this game. They will go to the arcade every day, a lot of the time by themselves, just to play DDR. I think the main reason they do this is so they can "show off" to people who have never played the game before. If they only knew that people were thinking "wow, look at this dork step on those arrows" Bionic Commando - Man. What a great idea for a game. What a great idea ruined by such a mediocre game. BLACK - Anybody remember this game? It was that console FPS that was nothing special. Pokemon - I'll admit... I own several pokemon games. I had Pokemon blue on gameboy, and I have pokemon sapphire and leafgreen on GBA. I'm probably going to buy the new DS pokemon as well. But has anybody noticed that these are all the SAME GAME? They have different pokemon to catch, but they're just different graphics of the same thing. There are different maps, but the games are all basically the same. The first Pokemon was pretty groundbreaking, but everything afterwards... basically just graphical upgrades. Also, I'm aware that leafgreen is a remake of the original Pokemon, but ruby/sapphire/emerald are a different game that feels exactly the same. Final Fantasy IX - The last FF on Playstation one. Their catchphrase for it was "the crystals have returned", or something along those lines. Joke's on anybody who believed that, the crystals don't make any type of appearance until the last disc of the game. The game was supposed to have the feel of "oldschool" FF games, but instead just threw a bunch of silly characters and an unmemorable story at you. Remember the rat girl? Guy with poofy orange dreadlocks/hair? How about the little girl? Yeah me neither. I don't understand why so many people loved this game. Just so you all know, I'm not really biased towards any games or consoles, I'm objectively cynical towards all games. Even if it's a series I love, if they release any rotten eggs, I will condemn that game just as if it were released by SEGA after they decided to go multiplatform. Has sega released anything good besides Virtua Fighter since they went multiplatform? Last edited by CyCo PL; 03-29-2007 at 02:07 AM.. |

*laughs* You're dissing Bionic Commando? That game's 20 years old, nobody's rating it anymore!

Pac-Man.
Absolutely no substance.
