Wasn't there gonna be an "Escape from NY" game from Namco?

I looked at the card insert on my DVD and it says Namco's working on a game with expected release in 2005.

Obviously it hasn't happened ... anyone know why the project was scrapped/delayed/mothballed?

what a pity.

I heard Snake was dead.

Actually, I hadn't heard about this game but I would definitely give it a rent... I wonder if you still would land your glider on the WTC?

I heard Snake was dead too.

Sorry, it's just that everybody says it in the movie, and I want to bring a bit of that into the thread.

I'd play it. I'm not sure I'd play "Escape from LA" though.

LOL, imagine having to play through that cheesy surfing scene, with the typical surfing music.. Actually, I think I'd like that.

I think they threw the towel in. I remember reading about this game a few times but then it just disapeared. Probably not much of a loss either to be honest. My money is on the fact that it was terrible

Think you are right. Read an article it was scrapped a few years back. Maybe if based on the original by a decent software house would be worth a look. Prob not worth namco releasing with movie being from 1981 too much of a gamble.

No kidding, I think 1 of the few decent movie based games was The Warriors. Which was a bad ass game imo. I can't imagine the game of Escape from NY being any better than the movie

Agreed, jt, The Warriors was a great game..
But we can see it as a proof that a movie-based can be good after all, even though it is extremely rare(unfortunately).

Very true, and in the Warriors case the game was better than the movie
