wise0132.dll error - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

Hi, when i insert the disk for Half Life 2 for the pc i get a error message saying:

Could not initialize installation. Could not extract Wise0132.dll to 'D:\Docume~1\Tony\Locals~1\Temp\GLC6.tmp', CRC does not match. Data error (cyclic redundacy check).

When i try it on another pc it works fine

both pc's have xp home sp2, but the one it doesnt work on had SP1a but was then upgraded to SP2 (dont know if that is relavent...)
Could anybody please help me?

try renaming the file glc6.tmp.bak then try installing it, it probubly can be deleted, but just incase we wont, give that a try and see if it installs after you renamed it

Its ok now, i put a new DVD drive in, when i say new i mean new to the pc, strange how a 1 year old drive doesnt work but a 5 year old one does

If that's the case you might want to look into a firmware upgrade for the DVD drive, if it's causing CRC errors on copying there should be a code fix.

what can i do to fix this need plz. What do i do if i deleted this file or what ever i needed.
