XBOX 360 High Def Adapter Question
Hey guys, after a vast amount of googlin' ive no clear answer to my question.
I have an original xbox, and no where locally has an original xbox HDadvance adapter. The xbox 360 adapter looks to have the exact same connector to the system. Can anyone confirm they are interchangeable? |
I'm only about 40% certain on this answer, so take it with many grains of salt.. but.. as I understand it, a HD cable simply takes the serial HD signal and splits it into the 3 composite cables. As such, I dont think there could be any difference between a 360 and an xbox cable so long as both ends fit in the proprietary xbox sized slot
|
360 cables will not connect to an original Xbox. The 360 cables use a more trapezoid shaped plug which is significantly larger than the regular Xbox's cord. I had to go 60ish miles out of town to find an HD cord for the 360, I can imagine how hard it'd be to regular xbox cords.

Xbox-1 cables work with the 360, but 360 cables don't work with the Xbox-1.
cyber kinda got it - the size of the adapter ends are almost identical, but the 360 has sharp corners and it won't fit correctly into the Xbox-1 port. Why do you need HD cords, the 360 comes with component cables, no? |
Wingless, I wanted to know if i could use xbox 360 hd cables on a original xbox.
and Thanks guys that answers my questions. |
The original xbox was not high definition even with the HD cables, all you are doing is converting from interlaced to a progressive scan signal. Your resolution will still only be 480p. Don't waste your money.

You can't use the regular xbox cables for the 360 either. The plug on the old xbox is a male plug, the xbox 360 is female.
