Hey, new page. Time to set my plan into motion.

Ah, I'm not ready.

If nobody responds in the next hour, I'll make it worth your while. Thank you.

Ourcrazymodern? 04-17-2010 12:38 PM

I have sixteen minutes left
no way fearing that it's worth my while.
Deadly Animals are us.

Jetée 04-17-2010 12:45 PM

I knew someone would break my combo (concentration).
No use berating you if I don't really care.

Time to start:

All this talk of dead animals got me hungry. No need to cook, I'll have some sushi later, with a little seaweed to make them feel at home inside my tummy.

Jet,
what's that weird white bar all about? It seems to be causing some intermittencies on my screen. I see the "quicktime" logo but nothing is happening...yet, Jet.

That is the new ".mp3" embedding feature that the TFP has installed.
It should look like a miniature media player of sorts, with a "play button, pause button, time interval slide, and volume control".

If you do not see that, then your internet explorer is not up to date with javascript or flash capabities or something. You didn't upgrade to Opera yet, did you, BadNick?

I know not what you are saying, but I was hoping for a contininous stream of consciousness here, a real consecutive gallery of what is being discussed in the podcast above. I can't fault you two for asking questions or participating while I get my act together.

And if you are one of those people who absolutely refuses to scroll up the page to figure out what you missed, this was the impetus (which I should have started in late January, but got held back some months, so here you go anyway):

"Deadliest animals", (and a few off-tracks) not just those that are dangerous if provoked. (or those found on the mainland of Australia)

Worldwide, the first 15 or so animals I posted are, statistically, the most deadliest animals known to man, well, because, on a yearly basis, they kill so many men, women and children.

You also notice I didn't post the most venomous, or the most vicious, or the most poisonous animals because people know to avoid them, or the toxins they inject don't work fast enough before people realize they are ill, and seek antibodies to cure them.

All of the above (save for the bears, and the posts after the great white shark), are currently the wildlife that kill the most number of people in the world annually, and that makes them BRUTAL. (not my word)

BadNick 04-17-2010 04:02 PM

I bet this animal kills more people than all the rest combined...especially the one on the left:

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...my_labeled.jpg

Jetée 04-17-2010 04:55 PM

We've stopped being consider animals in the taxonomical sense for the past 4 centuries, nearly.

Even though we are still classified as being part of the greater animal knigdom, and in the heirachy of simians, basically being the overlords of that subsect, we are no longer seen as animals in any scientific sense of the word.

Yes, some 'coy, fun, and smiling' scientists joke around as us (as humans) being the top animals for the past several millenia, but their statement, if held up to strict standards, wuld be seen as wrong.

We are now human beings -- the sentient dominators of this blue planet for an enormous amount of our recorded history, (ie, all of it) up until the point we think we can change it.

So, what was my point again?

ring 04-17-2010 05:49 PM

The dog that lives with me watches Animal Planet.

When the leopards bring down an antelope,
The dog on my lap.... his breath quickens,
his chin quivers and he huffs a deep noise of knowing.

Vicarious blood lust,
for both of us.

I'm craving some raw venison now,
with a tad of salt, pepper & garlic.

Jetée 04-17-2010 05:54 PM

Yeah, I've been growing to like that Big Cats Diary program as well, though I only catch it about once or twice a week.

what can I post for you so this thought can be considered content?

http://28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l1...7x7zo1_500.jpg
Nature? (which is also one of my longstanding favourite programs, presented to me by Canon, oh, and PBS)

ring 04-17-2010 06:01 PM

I like the fact the narration on that program involves,
whispering commentators.

I do believe most sensible
people are long tired of the shouty fake adrenaline rants.

We can hope.

If Humans are supposed to be at the top of the food chain,
aren't there way too many of us?

Jetée 04-17-2010 06:12 PM

Yeah, that's why I kind of tuned out of that new series involving Oprah's narration.
She tries too hard to tell a story that's there, but tries to make it empathetic to the masses.

I hear the original British narrator is loads better, but I really give much though to rmember his name; Ah,-a? Life (BBC TV series) (narrated by David Attenborough)

PS
also, I've been a strong vocal advocate of more natural disasters, disease, and maybe random unnatural black holes to gobble up people by the masses. Or, maybe a better solution to my zany idea of mass genocide would be to colonize the oceans, with those bubbles.
