MOAB, although this film does not technically include an airplane, it does involve elements of flight and rocketships; also, historically, it is widely-acknowledged as the first recorded science-fiction film.

Le Voyage dans la lune is a 1902 French black and white silent science fiction film. It is loosely based on two popular novels of the time: From the Earth to the Moon by Jules Verne and The First Men in the Moon by H. G. Wells.

Ourcrazymodern? 05-12-2009 04:44 AM

Ah, I see...
It will be like this
for awhile.

Ourcrazymodern? 05-12-2009 09:35 AM

is "neurosing" a word?

Not suffering the doldrums
She's still all I can think about, right?
That's how it's supposed to be.

highdro69 05-12-2009 12:27 PM

cdwonderful 05-12-2009 12:33 PM

yes. limburger

BadNick 05-12-2009 12:54 PM

if we could only figure out how to carry some of that moon cheese back to earth, we would have cheese power nearly forever!

BadNick 05-12-2009 07:48 PM

ps: Santa, I need a hot rod. Thank you.

highdro69 05-12-2009 09:13 PM

no no no, bars need a rework, not a nerf!

Ourcrazymodern? 05-13-2009 06:20 AM

Already we have
the cheese power we long for:
Don't give it away!

(For X sake, haiku all night, & she has me editing myself(!))

BadNick 05-13-2009 06:33 AM

Please forgive me not only for being cheesy
but also for being redundant

...since I am copying the info below from my post in the "Where In The World Am I?" thread where I am now searching for our dearest uncle phil and looking at things that are "long" ...so what better place to cross post this useless long stuff than in The Longest Thread? ...I ask rhetorically

I keep coming up with great "long neck" related ideas, and very great ideas they are...but then it turns out they are south of Dallas/Ft. Worth :(

For example, I thought you might be feeding long neck beers to Clay Henry III, the famous beer drinking goat of Lajitas Texas Clay Henry III, Beer-Drinking Goat, Lajitas, Texas but he's too far south
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...%20I/TXLAJ.jpg

Then I thought you might have been inspired by that recent great thread "Omg!! My Dad Is A Llama" so I checked out Qualtity Central Texas Alpacas from Long Neck Acres and found out that they sell and service alpacas
Long Neck Acres is located in the beautiful Central Texas Hill Country and is home to over 200 Quality Alpacas. We specialize in providing you with superior Alpacas at reasonable prices.

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...p8bognor-1.jpghttp://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...NA_TopGun1.jpg

Whether you elect to purchase your Alpacas and bring them home to your own ranch, or invest in Alpacas and leave them in our care, we promise to treat your Alpacas as if they were our own.

Then thinking you might be a longstem rose, I looked up where The Yellow Rose of Texas came from, but she was from the south end near Mexico.

See what I mean? ...I ask rhetorically.

Jetée 05-13-2009 06:57 AM

erg, last week was roosters;

a few days ago it was topics relating to the moon;

now this week, my coincidental psyche is now exposed to a flood of llamas.

Hopefully tomorrow brings a new tandem of triviality that I'll happen upon at every turn throughout the day. I wish for it to be sandwiches.

BadNick 05-13-2009 09:00 AM

Jetée,
let me start you on your gastronomical journey with this sandwich which, coincidentally, I will have for lunch today: it's an Italian chicken cutlet sandwich from Altomonte's Italian Market, it's made on a great crusty sesame bread roll, with tasty tender fresh (never frozen) chicken breast fillets, slightly hand pounded and then lightly breaded and fried just right in fine olive oil, never greasy or overcooked, then add broccoli rabe and roasted peppers, then topped with sharp imported provolone:

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...chixcutlet.jpg

...or if you're in a more herbivorous mood, their nearly as delectable veggie & cheese sandwich:

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cheesesand.jpg

Jetée 05-13-2009 02:15 PM

2nd: Looks like the same sub sans the chicken.

mmm, I shall search for a good sandwich later; this is the best I could come up with today.

MexicanOnABike 05-13-2009 02:19 PM

small.. you need a shot of beer and 1 chip to go with it.

Jetée 05-13-2009 02:59 PM

I was going to post a Scooby-sized sandwich, but I just remembered something even better, and infinitely times tastier; Padma Lakshmi.

(the facts that somewhat contradict the advertisement: one, she is popularly-known as the host of Top Chef, and is a chef herself, so it kinda offputs the logic that she would eat the quality of food found at a Hardee's (which if anything you find on the internet is true, is a sub-par establishment); and two, I've heard in quite a few of her interviews that she is basically a vegan, so as to why she lend her likeness in the slaughter of sweet, delicious and dirty pigs is puzzling. Succulent bacon on a hot day.)

MexicanOnABike 05-13-2009 05:20 PM

she's a messy eater. and I wouldn't lick any food off my hands in the streets... who knows what she touched? !

BadNick 05-13-2009 07:21 PM

talk about sambos and I'm from Philly, so here's a few interpretations of Philly cheesesteaks for your consideration:

Zooksport2 05-14-2009 02:26 AM

Take this short quiz, consisting of 4 simple questions, to determine whether you are truly qualified to be the 'professional' that you claim to be.

QUESTIONS 1:

How do you put a giraffe into a refrigerator?

ANSWER:

Open the refrigerator, put in the giraffe, and close the door. This question tests whether you tend to do simple things in an overly complicated way.

QUESTIONS 2:

How do you put an elephant into a refrigerator?

ANSWER:

Did you say, "Open the refrigerator, put in the elephant, and close the refrigerator? Wrong.

Open the refrigerator, take out the giraffe put in the elephant and close the door. This tests your ability to think through the repercussions of your previous actions.

QUESTIONS 3:

The Lion King is hosting an animal conference. All the animals attend... except one ... Which animal does not attend?

ANSWER:

The Elephant. The elephant is in the refrigerator. You just put him in there! This tests your memory. Okay, even if you did not answer the first three questions correctly, you still have one more chance to show your true abilities.

QUESTION 4:

There is a river you must cross but it is inhabited by crocodiles, and you do not have a boat. How do you manage to get across?

ANSWER:

You jump into the river and swim across. Have you not been listening? All the crocodiles are attending the Animal Conference with the Lion King. This tests whether you are a good listener.

MexicanOnABike 05-14-2009 03:11 AM

great quiz!

Jetée 05-14-2009 03:16 AM

gee whiz

BadNick 05-14-2009 03:48 AM

cheese whiz...see cheesesteak sambo above (though in my revolutionary spirit of brotherhood in the city of brotherly love, though I prefer the sisters myself, even though there's nothing wrong with brothers, at least most of them, I prefer real cheese to whiz)

Jetée 05-14-2009 04:23 AM

Before I my collective mind moves on from sandwiches onto, maybe golf or something, I found a sammy I want right now: Stareos!

we are all so lucky to be on TFP so we can see all these wonderous things...

like the largest fish taco in the world

and what might be the longest pizza in the world (notice the fresh basil)

and this is a pretty damn large burger

the closest thing I've come to a fish taco is Starkist® rolled into pita bread.
