Great! I get the same deal with Barrie, because I grew up there, and we had a big twister back in the 80's. But I also remember Hinton Alta for a train derailment, and Haggersville Ont. for a tire fire. Ok.... off to find a decent pic. Here:

It is indeed. I have had more than a few business lunches in it's Cafe Victoria. I worked in the building next door, and I remember when our offices were flooded with teenaged girls who mistook our build for the King Eddy, and were looking for the that amazing pop sensation, "The New Kids On The Block" who were staying there. http://toronto.com/hotels/listing/000-127-293 The nearly century-old King Eddy's guest books contain the names of some of the most famous figures: Rudyard Kipling, Mark Twain and The Beatles. The hotel opened in 1903 as the King Edward, built by George Gooderham -- at the time, the richest man in Toronto. The interior includes massive marble columns and a skylight in the lobby. The exterior was completed in French Renaissance style using terra-cotta trimmings. In 1928, a new wing was added, including a nine-storey tower rising above the original eight-storey structure. The hotel was designated as a historical site in 1975 and closed in 1979 for a $25 million restoration. It re-opened in 1981. And its old-world charm can still be found at the Cafe Victoria. GAME ON CHARLATAN

That is a sweet picture! There's a highway near Banff that looks similar. When I was pretty young (10 or something) and my family would drive out to Banff National Park once in awhile and we would drive across this particular road that was friggin narrow (much smaller than 2 lane road) and on either side was the lake. Can't remember it, but that's the first thing I thought of when I saw that picture

More specific? The border crossing on the Top of the World Highway. Perhaps looking into Yukon?
"The border, known as Little Gold Creek in Canada and Poker Creek in the U.S., features one of the few jointly-built single building customs ports of entry along the Canada-U.S. border." |

Is this White pass? The one Klondike gold rushers arriving in Skagway, Alaska had to hike over with tons of gear?

Cool. I might post one of my photos of the area from our road trip in August, though they don't do it justice. It was like being on the fricken moon.
Anyways, this shouldn't be too hard. Hint: This is not in Winnipeg.

Red Deer. St. Mary's. Three blocks from my wife's parent's house. I used to think that I had been baptized there, but the whole 'it being a catholic church' thing seems to negate that.

Charlatan: One of those addresses has to be on a street, rather than an Avenue. Otherwise, they'll never meet.

97th Street and 118th Avenue. It was donated by a local business and is actually made out of aluminum. Community spirit building and monumentalizing, there is a business assosiation in town that is trying to turn 118th into the "Avenue of Champions". Future plans include a giant hockey stick. No, I am not kidding. There are also a bunch of sports themed murals along 118th ave, and there are sports silouettes on the lightposts.
Charlatan was close enough, so game on. |
