Pet Adoption
Relating to Calgary area, any idea other than the Humane Society, where to adopt pets?
I'm thinking of getting my Dad a dog since he's spoke of getting one after our Golden Retriever passed away over a year ago. But I'm not sure if its the right time of the year to get one since its gonna get too cold, he's not willing to let animals in the house (We used to have a housedog but he shitted EVERYWHERE and was thrown out, eventually my sister took it with her when she moved) and we don't really have much of a place for it other than the barn (The doghouse is a mess) |
Work on getting a space for the pooch and make sure your dad wants another pet before you give him one, dogs should not shit everywhere if they are housetrained and getting an oldedr pooch may negate this problem. Try asking around local vets, they normally know where the animals can be adopted from. Good Luck!

The dog might not mind, but I hate the idea of a dog being left to live outside, it jus doesn't seem fair to it. It really doesn't sound like y'all want the responsibilities that come from dog ownership (think the next 10 - 15 years)
Dogs can be crate trained, so that they don't wander the house all hours... it's their place where they go to sleep or when they want to be alone. If a dog is shitting all over the house, it's either a very poorly trained dog, it's seeking attention, or it's sick... Pet stores often times have animals up for adoption, but a no-kill shelter is always the best place to go.. those are the animals that need homes. |
I would love to keep the dog in the house (I was looking at a Beagle from the Humane Society) but my Dad has this absolutely strict rule about having animals in the house including cats.
