I normally read the Houston Chronicle everyday, but as I walked past a newspaper rack headed into my local IHOP this morning, I saw a photo that caught my attention. This photo was on the front page of the Dallas Morning News, and below you will find both the photo and the headline that went with it.

My first reaction to the photo before I bought the paper was this.... Damn I am glad they are showing a white person screwing up on the front page of a newspaper. We've seen enough images of black folks doing wrong, so now maybe people will get off the racial bandwagon that has been picking up speed lately. But, after I bought and read the paper, I realized I was wrong. Shown in the photo is a member of the "Chickasaw Nation Search and Rescue Team" looking for survivors in New Orleans. You should be able to read the entire caption when you view the photo below.

Just for kicks.....and the subject of this thread, what Headline would YOU write to accompany this photo on the front page of your newspaper, if you were the author? I hope the general mood of this thread can be lighter than others lately. Once again, this is just for kicks, and not meant to analyze anything. It's just for fun...just for fun.......

Good one maleficent..... It is a disturbing photo. This morning my partner and I finished our run waaaaay early, and we had just locked our weapons in the cage on the bus, and I hid the bus behind the IHOP so we could go in, grab a bite, kill a little time, and not getting caught milking the clock. When I am hungry, normally nothing gets in my way... But like I said earlier, I saw this photo when I passed the newspaper rack. I backed up...bought a paper, and read through it while having a smoke BEFORE going inside to eat. It is definitely an attention getter...

Not to take away from the fun of the topic - but from the grainy picture, i can't quite tell if his finger is on the trigger of the gun or not - -if it is...and I were the person taking the photo, I'd be extremely worried...

I can't tell if his finger is on or in the trigger well...but he sure looks like he's ready to shoot if need be..... Maybe the reason behind the grainy picture is because the photographer is a long ways away....safe from stray bullets.

I don't think it needs a new headline. I think the fact that they caption a picture of a guy walking around with a gun in his hands saying he's part of a "search and rescue" team says enough. Disturbing, indeed.
