That's a WWII monument is it not?
It looks like it's a very nice sculpture, I don't suppose you've got enough pictures that we could see the rest of it?

Nope, it is the National War Monument, honouring the Great War (WW1)
It was commissioned in the early 20's i think. Sorry. All I have is a photo of the statues on the top, and it turned out too dark. That is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the base of the monument, relocated from Europe in the late 80's (?)

That sculpture was the highlight of my 1981 visit to the capital. Thanks for the post.

50 to 53 was the Korean War... It was made after WW1 but it serves to commemorate all of the wars to which we have sent our soldiers (I believe there might even be some dates for the Boer War, which pre-dates WW1).
We also have a monument not to far from this to remember our peacekeepers... By the way, great shots Ben! I love our parliament buildings... They are just right. I'm also a fan of the Chateau Laurier (in the BG of the War Monument). I was always moved when I would pass the War Monument... sometimes a few times in a day.

Those pictures are beautiful! Hang on to them. Makes me wish I knew more about Canadian history and politics.
