Which thumb is on top?

The poll doesn't really line up with your question. Rather than gender, shouldn't it be:

I wouldn't bet on being right brained, I'm about the least creative person that you'll ever meet and I've actually pissed people off for being too analytical. . . I think too much, it's one of the reasons I'm usually unhappy.

i thought that it was a standard to do this test by which hand you used to write with. at least that's what i've always heard. lefties are right-brained and righties are left-brained. that's why i chose left-brained but i didn't even see the thing about thumbs till after i'd voted. if i had done it the thumb way, i would be right-brained. oh well

Left handed people are generally right-brain dominant.
Right handed people are almost always left-brain dominant.
Right side of the brain controls the left side or your body, and vice versa, which is why we have dominant hands. Of course, some left handed people were trained to be right handed as children, and I suppose some right handed children could learn to be left handed from a parent.

Well if that test thingy is accurate Mal, then I'm afraid I have some bad news for my girlfriend... I'm more feminine than we/she'd like.

I'm definitely a left-brained kind of person. (In fact first time round, I misread your instructions and thought the test had shown me as right brained, and came to the conlusion that the test was rubbish).

What is very interesting is how completely wrong it feels to rest my left thumb on top - this seems to back-up the claims made by the test (I feel strongly about both the thumb and the brain).

I've never heard this test before, I would be interested to know if it is a legitimate indicator - the previous posters didn't seem to find the result as accurate as I did. Hmmm...

EDIT: I see that the test comes from the BBC website. They are respectable, and I would put a significant amount of trust in their accuracy.

Are you sure that this is correct? It sounds as if it is all backwards.
As I have learned in life, those that are right handed (who should have their left thumb on top) are predominantly "Left Brained" and those who are left handed (right thumb on top) are predominantly "Right Brained".

If this is true and correct then your original post is incorrect...left thumb:left brain and right thumb:right brain.
