chekc out this weekends report for snow

A massive snowstorm accompanied by frigid winds was on a path to wallop Atlantic Canada early Sunday after it pummelled a wide swath of southern Ontario on Saturday.

The blizzard, which caused numerous collisions on city streets and Ontario highways due to black ice and whiteouts, would be the third heavy snowfall for the East Coast in a week.

Some parts of the region will see up to 40 centimetres of snow, with winds gusting to 100 km/h.

I haven't managed to get on the canal yet this winter, hopefully within the next couple of weeks I'll make it down there.

Currently in Ottawa it is -19C and the windchill makes it feel like -29C, another lovely day in the nation's capital.

Grrr! I was down to visit my folks for Christmas, and there was a deep freeze and an early canal opening. Just when I thought "oh, going on the canal would be fun", it goes and thaws. Grrr.

Now that sounds like the Ottawa I remember... it was especially bad when the mid winter thaw would coincide with Winterlude... major suckage.

The temps are coming down a bit. This weekend should be in the -10 range. I was on the canal last week and it was cold. Had to stop into Maxwell's on Elgin for a few pints and a couple of scotches before I hit the Queensway. Fucking cold it was. Not good for the hands.

My neighbour across the street plows a big area on the Ottawa River and I could skate there if I like, but his kids are young and they don't need me around, half pissed or stoned. When the wind isn't up, skiing on the river is nice. Can see clear downtown, mind you it's 20km away. But he has waterfront, and I have greenbelt, so I ski out my back door.

You guys think it's cold? Why last night it got down to 55 in Miami, in fact it hasn't been above 75 in two weeks.

People are running around in heavy overcoats and furry caps and unwrapping their electric blankets.

I'll tell you what cold is: when you can see your breath in south Florida.

Currently -4C/25F with the chance of it going down a few more degrees tonight, in sunny er uhm, snowy, southwestern ontario on the border to Michigan.

It has snowed about 1.5 meters in the past 4 days. I swear. enough of this already.

I keep telling people that winter is going to soon start in MArch and end in July and summer will be shifted too.. but no one seems to believe me.

*sigh*
