I'll go but not for the shark meat. Halibut or Red Snapper are prefered, if not I'll settle for the chicken.

Shark catch in Yarmouth Nova Scotia
(The place where Dean Randazzo won the Red Bull Ice Break contest earlier this year)
Did you all see this? This Mako was hooked in the mouth, only fought slightly for 15 minutes, came up along side of the boat to have a look, long enough for one of the crew to put a rope around its tail !!!

That's when the s**t hit the fan!!

The Shark took off towing the 42 foot fishing boat backwards through the water at about 7 Knots. Just like in JAWS. The boat was taking on water, the Shark would jump completely out of the water at times.

This went on for an hour before the Shark actually drowned.
He weighed in at 1035 LBS

This is the same spot the Red Bull Ice Breaker is located. watch out Dean, Carlson, and Gesler!!

I thought it was a Great White, I had no idea Mako's get that big. A 42-foot fishing boat is a BIG boat. That's a hell of a shark!!

sharks are scary as hell, but not dangerous most of the time, which is why i hate movies like jaws that just fuel ignorance.

Yup, we're all afraid for really no good reason. You have a better chance of getting poison blow-darted by a pygmy bushman while on a public transit in Chicago as you do of getting attacked by a shark, especially a Mako, and especially off N.S.

The best thing these guys could have done is cut him loose, but then they couldn't show how much testosterone they possess. Poor shark, I doubt that he had much fun in this whole episode.

Still, the easiest thing for mankind to do is to treat animals without respect, that is what makes us "great."

Peace,

Pierre

My then boyfriend was taking the Loop home from work one night, when he felt a suddend pin prick on the back of his neck. He raised his hand to slap the spot and felt his legs buckle underhim.

It was so crowded, that he did fall down, unconscious until the next stop when people left the train. He caught site of a short, small statured man in body paint stepping off the train with the crowd...

Luckily he was taken to the ER in time...

cheers!

You know, the only reason I mentioned the pygmy in the first place was because it happened to me, and I thought it was such an isolated incident that I could use it as an analogy.

Now, though, I see that maybe we are in the midst of as code orange "pygmy alert" and that we should all be very aware of the threat that they are causing.

Geez, Janey, you've made me fearful. Now what?!

Peace,

Pierre

The pygmies quickly learn to shoot at the neck. I was lucky, a few days ago I removed my jacket to find a dart lodged right between where my shoulderblades weould have been. It must have been his first hunt.
