'Thorpey says the taste is "fully sick"'

How much do I hate this fucking ad? Its only redeeming feature so far is Lano and Woodley hung shit on it on Rove the other night. And what the hell does "fully sick" mean anyway (I'm guessing cool or something....)? I've never heard anyone use this phrase! Am I just getting old or what??

Latch 11-18-2004 03:25 AM

I haven't seen the ad.. but I've heard 'fully sick' before.. people make up some stupid-as phrases sometimes.

almostaugust 11-18-2004 02:19 PM

Yeah, 'fully sick' is something that my wogboy friends at kickboxing say alot. Its usually followed by 'bro' or 'cuz' on the end.
Im pretty oblivious to ads on tv at the moment. My tv watching is pretty erratic. My favourite tv shows are as follows. Six Feet Under. Cracker. The Simpsons. Survivor (though not this series) and The Panel.

Mephisto2 11-18-2004 04:24 PM

"fully sick" or just "sick" are terrible new words to mean cool.

I look back whistfully at my youth when things were "Ace!, "Gear!", "Brill!", "Magic!" or just plain "Cool...".

Fully sick? Yes. Yes I think I am.

I love them! Anything that aids in pulling the piss out of people different than myself is fine in my book.

Now come and check out my fully sik VL mate! Look at those wet rims mate, fucken sik!

spindles 11-19-2004 08:52 PM

yep - it is marketing at its worst. I think the voiceover guy sounds really funny at the end though - he does not have a clue how to say fully sick :D

Hahaha...that makes two of us! :hmm:

Stick 11-20-2004 08:26 PM

Never seen the ad. As soon as his face appears on the idiot box I switch the channel to stop myself becoming fully nauseated.

deekaybee 11-21-2004 07:57 PM

Thorpie says it's fully sick..... Maybe it just honest advertising for once? I mean oaties are'nt the best.

Why not sell things like they are, Thoripes advice line can help other products

"Thorpie says it's crunchy shit" - penut butter
"Thorpie says it's fantastically flavourless" - rice bubbles
"Thorpie says recycled products rule" - sausages

Ishmal 11-21-2004 08:35 PM

i've neva seen the ad... but i'm pretty sure "fully sik" comes from the TV series "Pizza" on SBS... at least, thats the only place i've heard it.

Meridae'n 11-21-2004 10:45 PM

'Fully Sik' comes from Griffith, or Leichart, one of the two.

arf 11-22-2004 07:19 AM

I think Thorpe is a bit of a product endorsing whore. I see a new advertisement of him backing a different product every week. I suppose if I was famous and got payed heaps (which i'm sure he does) to do them I probably would too. :D

Yeah.....Thorpie's a fan of the sausage, isn't he?

Ishmal 11-22-2004 05:33 PM

ummm... call me stupid. but u've lost me Meridae'n. what you mean?

Stick 11-23-2004 04:18 AM

Ishmal - Griffith and Leichhardt are ethnic strongholds. (Italian)

Ella - Thorpie denies he's a fudge packer. Unless he's recently announced he's batting for the other team.

Latch 11-23-2004 04:22 AM

he's just a metro.. like slim and Meri....

coash 11-24-2004 04:14 PM

Ian Thorpe's a fakir. My mate who plays union for Scotland had to goto Athens. At the club thorpie asked for his number. later on thorpie sms's him 'how are the dirty sluts doing at the club'. least he's not gay. i hope.

ugggg
worst ad ever :(

Rlyss 12-01-2004 03:26 PM

What the hell are the Kellogg's marketing people thinking? 'Thorpie says they're fully sick', 'Juicy sultanas from the grape vine'... the singing kids in the Sultana Bran ads are vile.

And the K-Time breakfast bar ads with the two women at a cafe, then it cuts to bouncy fruit dripping with water (means freshness...?) and the Home Alone music kicks in?

xerraire1 12-05-2004 08:47 PM

AByway as for the advertising... Im a kid. I eat sultana bran.. Yet i dont start singing when I eat it...

FALSE ADVERTISING I WANNA SING, I WANNA HAVE A HOT MUM...

*mumbles* or something like that

Latch 12-05-2004 09:12 PM

so.... how much have you had to drink, xerraire? ;)

xerraire1 12-06-2004 10:21 PM

you think thats bad? I typed 4 posts backwards.. I got 5 pms from 3 moderators..

RRRR...

i still stand by my original post

Ella 12-07-2004 02:14 AM

Good for you, buddy!!

alpha666 12-14-2004 01:03 AM

yea he is definatly an advertising whore! big time!!! i was also of the oppinion that he was gay! however i have been corrected by some one in the know (one of his team mates) who told me that ....... well ....... he really really really likes the ladies! ia was discovered after athens!! hehehehehe

BHabarow 12-19-2004 04:32 AM

Hahaha. I thought it was absolutely brilliant.. and yeah, I think the whole 'fully sick' thing's been popularised by Pizza on SBS. I say 'brilliant' because I almost got in a crash when my dad quoted "Thorpey says it's fully sick" out of the blue when I was out driving with him the other day. Funny because he's the typical old russian man in his 50's... guess you had to be there.

I hate that damn ad, they were too cheap to make a new ad for their new product, so they reused their old ad and just cut it near the end to introduce the new flavor (assuming thats what bouncing red berries means anyway)

Ralli 01-10-2005 05:14 PM

"fully sik" came out I think when FAT PIZZA graced us with their presents. It means really cool or something like that. I am into the car scene and a lot of people say it. I cringe everytime I hear it. It makes me ill. but each to their own I suppose. I hate the term. Will admit I havent seen the ad...........

Redlemon 01-11-2005 06:54 AM

AAAIGH! This thread is back!!!!

For some reason, the title of this thread sticks in my head like a bad pop song. Who the hell is Thorpey? Is he qualified to identify something as "fully sick"? How much better is that than "partially sick"? It keeps bouncing around my head, and it won't leave... won't leave...

*boom* (brain explodes)

Ella 01-11-2005 12:11 PM

Who the hell is Thorpey?

Only one of Australia's greatest ever swimmers (is he now classified as the greatest, Aussies?). He wins shitloads of medals and blitzed the the pool in the Athens Olympics recently. He also does heaps of sponsorships (as with the above breakfast cereal spot) and is very, very rich young man with a predilection for Armani.

Well, that answers my first question ;) I didn't watch the Olympics, don't follow swimming, and I'm not a local.

Ella 01-11-2005 12:25 PM

Yep, I know you're not a local mate. The New England location gave that one away.

About the qualification on fully sick...well, when you're paid millions you can say whatever the hell you want, right?

There is a New England in NSW...

If someone paid me a million bucks, I'd even say "Fully Sick" in my best wog boy accent.

Redlemon 01-11-2005 02:00 PM

And one more question... what tastes fully sick?

Picture yourself as clueless as me, then reread the thread title. Perhaps I'm the only one bothered by this....

Fully sick is a term that wogs (Italian, Greek, Lebanese, Turkish etc) to describe something that is good. Kinda like saying awesome or wicked or something like that. It's used alot in reference to cars like they would say fully sick ride bro or something like that.

Rlyss 01-11-2005 06:17 PM

I think he's asking what the product is, what tastes fully sick. It's a healthy cereal or some crap that's made out to be fun to eat.
