stella artois, fosters, kokanee.
Working in a Nova Scotia bar I get weird looks when people find out I HATE Keiths, does bad things to my stomach. |
1st place - Kokanee Gold
2nd place - Harp 3rd place - Canadian |
Guinness and KilKenny for import, and not just in small doses.
I like "La Belle Gueule - Originale" here in Québec and I agree that "La Blanche de Chambly" is one of the best from Unibroue. Other than that, Molson Ex in night club. |
After playing hockey beer - Keiths
Cottage Beer - Upper Canada, Bavaria In my house right now - Carlsberg What I like on tap - Carlsberg Red |
wI like seet sweet, Schooner. As a matter of fact, its time to sink another ship. (J Stew)
Or moose red : ) |
Labatt Crystal!
|
Everyday drink - Alexander Keiths
Feeling different - Rickard's Red Already drunk, cheap - Kokanee Hot summer day - Corona Mmm, beer. |
Sleeman's Honey Brown for domestic, Newcastle Brown Ale for import.
|
Any TFP members in Toronto should really check out "Al's Cask Ale" at C'est What AND "Best bitter" at the Granite (Eglinton and Mt. Pleasant). If you haven't tried these then you are missing out.
As far as non micro-brew, then I'll have to go with St. Ambroise Apricot Wheat Ale. |
Maudite!! have some with tortiere; your basic French Canadian Christmas Eve meal
|
On the subject of beer, anyone know of any brands still being bottled in stubbies?
|
I know I'm a bit late getting in to this thread but I haven't seen either of my choices mentioned here. I'm a bit confused though, with all the Maritimers that have posted here it seems like nobody has heard of Olands. My first choice will be the tall boat (Schooner), and second will be Oland's Red Label.
Bottoms up!!! |

I have bought Red Cap in stubbies, but they were screw top, so not the real mccoy. Last week i bought a micro brewery pale ale (Mill Street Ale) which is in stubbies. These ones are NOT screw top. So they are authentic (re?) creations. I really like them. The LCBO had them or you could pobably go and buy them at the Distillery District (on Mill Street - in Toronto) |
Big Rock anything. Traditional, Warthog, McNally's, it's all great. Old style traditionally brewed ales and lagers with no preservatives.
Not that it's the only one. Granville does the same, so does about 100 other small breweries across Canada, I just like Big Rock because it's more local to where I live (Calgary) and I've been drinking Big Rock since the first batch hit the stores. Try it, you'll like it. |
I loved Granville Island brew, I even have the t-shirt, although it is getting a little small, and tight...
|
Rainier Ale aka "Green Death"
|
i usually drink keith's, just yesterday i saw someone drinking "upper canada" never seen or heard of it before :hmm:
|
while I'm not much of a beer drinker, i do like moosehead, Labatt blue, and of course Molson Canadian
|
I'm not canadian...but when in canada I drink wildcatt
|
haha, whoops I didnt notice this was the Canada forum. In that case it would have to be Labatt Blue. :D

Red Brick Ale, brewed right here in Atlanta. Haven't found anything I like better.
|
Canadian, Keith's, Sleeman's, Moosehead.
|
Granville Island - Winter Brew in particular, but all of theirs are great.
|
Homebrew stouts & braggets are my favorites. Pale ales in between.
For bottled stuff, Widmer Winternacht was my favorite even though only a seasonal. Looks like they've replaced it with Snowplow this year. It's also quite good though doesn't have the same kick. |
Sorry about this folks but canadian/blue/keiths= water. for me it's Creemore Springs all the way
|
Ex and Keiths > all others for taste & sheer thirst quenching on a hot day after mowing the lawn.
I tend to drink the girly-man Coors Lite if I'm heading out to a bar for the night though. I last longer that way  |
qweds -> You've got to be one of the only people who has ever mentioned that brew recently around me!
I'm going to go with Granville Island Winter Ale as well. There's just something about that vanilla aftertaste that makes my little heart sing... |

Jumping in an a topic near and dear to my heart.
Too many to list ALL my favourites, but... North Coast Brewing's Old Rasputin Imperial Stout (California) Unibroue's Trois Pistoles, Maudite, Fin du Monde, etc. (Quebec) Wychwood's Hobgoblin Ale (England) (at 5.2%, for those lighter days) And for really hot days, with too much sun: Corona or Bavaria. For a little more taste, Tuborg. Special Mention: Really enjoyed Granville Island's Dopplebock this year! </BeerGeekSpew> |

Sleemans Pale Ale & Okanagan Springs Pale Ale. Strangely they were both favorites before Sleemans bought OK Springs.
|
Arrrrghhhh! **beer ....
"seeing if i can breathe some life into an old post"
I first started drinking Blue ... doh de doh de dum de doh .... And after a dozen or so failed experiments, i found that A nice cold Bud, (brewed by Labatts ... we are in canada eh), is the beer for me ... but! whats up with the headaches ???? is it because i make a pig of myself? so now me drinks just rum! ... eye eye captain! |
Tusker, Tiger, Kingfisher and Keith's are current faves.
|
I lived in Montreal for 40 years and then moved to Ontario. I learned to love beer in Montreal, particularly microbrew beers like Boreale. There's nothing better than drinking Boreale Rousse in a place like "Les Deux Perrots" in Old Montreal while listening to French Canadian bands play British rock and roll.
http://www.boreale.qc.ca/eng/images/botrous.gif Nowadays, I pretty much settle for Rickard's red or the occasional Guinness. The fridge always has a variety of Lakeport or Laker red for basic needs. |
Labatt 50, first choice.
Guinness, second choice. Keith's, third choice. |
I like Pyramid Ale. It's not made in Canada, sorry.
I also like that horrible beer called Stella Artois for personal memories it holds while I was in Eastern Europe and rats ate my fruit. That was a syntactically poor sentence. |

un cinquant svp! |
How long have I been here, and I haven't posted to this thread yet?
That is just wrong... Anyhoo, my beer in the fridge (and in the cooler in my car, don't ask) is http://www.greatwesternbrewing.com/j...es/bottles.jpg Great Western Pilsner and http://www.greatwesternbrewing.com/jpegs/bottles/hw.jpg Great Western Honey Wheat But the glass behind the Honey Wheat bottle is filled with Pilsner, because the beer is as dark as the bottle, maybe a little bit less. It is fantastic stuff, and brewed right here. |
