Actually, I discovered that I can just copy and paste a space... get's annoying hitting control-v all the time, but at least it is legible

more annoying is spilling diet pepsi all over your key board. i know this from experience
 then it types more like this: hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhekhkllllllllllllioooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo get your butt to the computer store. fortunately keyboards are much much cheaper than say a blown hard drive...

you can hook up an external keyboard to a laptop. my hubby hooks up a mouse & keyboard to his all the time.
but maybe it doesn't work for all laptops...?
