Video was so funny... I cried!

mms://stream.eizodana.com/olympus/m01_hi.wmv

This was the funniest thing I have seen in a very long time!

I don't know who added the screaming soundtrack but it was a great idea!

Mephex 05-13-2004 11:15 AM

Wow!

I didn't laugh, but was amazed, for sure.

PredeconInferno 05-13-2004 11:19 AM

I thought that was kinda sad.

The sounds they added were amusing, I'll give you that.

Stupid hornets... I should go on an anti-hornet crusade to avenge my honeybee bretheren!

Booray 05-13-2004 11:28 AM

pretty interesting little video. the sound effects and music were pretty funny.

World's King 05-13-2004 11:34 AM

That is not at all what I expecting.

skier 05-13-2004 11:37 AM

Argh I hate streaming videos. They never work for me.
But yeah scary big hornets.

Redgirl 05-13-2004 11:42 AM

Those poor little bees. :(

Of course I won't think that the next time I'm stung by one of the lil' bastards.

rockogre 05-13-2004 11:53 AM

War is hell no matter what your size.

Astrocloud 05-13-2004 02:02 PM

I've seen this on PBS. It's the reason why honey is a commodity in Japan.

Latch 05-13-2004 02:03 PM

After watching this video I have decided that the hornet is my new enemy and should die.

Destrox 05-13-2004 03:58 PM

That was just cool. I love learning stuff like this.

06-11-2004 11:17 AM

DIE HORNETS!!!!

primal 06-11-2004 11:30 AM

Bees like the L.A. Lakers, really need to learn to work as a team.

ickma 06-11-2004 11:34 AM

I almost cried.

Agreed.
It's pretty amazing hornets can do that to an entire colony of bees.

No.

Rdr4evr 06-13-2004 01:16 AM

Not funny, but INSANE! Poor bees got fucked up, those hornets are evil looking bastards. That was a great video.

Unga 06-13-2004 01:55 AM

John Henry 06-13-2004 02:22 AM

Maybe I'm a freak, but did anyone else see a certain bleak beauty in that?

Perhaps I ought to become a goth or something.

qtpye4u84 06-13-2004 03:38 AM

LOl.... way to much drama for a Bee.

Hard8s 06-13-2004 12:02 PM

I don't know about you but I would have loved to see the bees win. At least the bees do something for us humans. Without the bees there would sure be a lot less pollination of crops, trees and plants being done.

Also it seems like one hell of a waste to slaughter an entire colony for just a week or two's worth of food. At this rate they could wipe out an entire area of bees in 2-3 months. Wouldn't it be worth it to keep some alive to continue the hive? that way they could at least come back again, no?

Zotz 06-13-2004 05:36 PM

oh the CARNAGE!!!!

seems like a lot of work for a meal or two

skier 06-13-2004 08:17 PM

Hard8's, why don't you go argue with those hornets some more. I'm sure they will have many interesting POINTS for you to consider.

Kewpie Dan 06-14-2004 03:23 PM

i saw this a while back. the european bees have no defense but the japanese bees have a crazy system.

the japanese honey bee can withstand a higher temperature before they die. But the difference is only something like 3 or 4 degrees.

when a giant hornet scout finds a japanese honey bee hive the bees dogpile the hornet and vibrate to raise the temperature inside the writhing mass of bees. they keep the hornet inside the ball until it dies of heat exposure.

it's amazing what 3 degrees can do, eh?

losthellhound 06-15-2004 05:15 PM

I cant see video.. just the sound.. damn streaming video

choskins 06-15-2004 05:30 PM

Man, what kind of super hornets are those?

edit:
Here is some info on them

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/n...ntHornets.html

choskins 06-15-2004 05:32 PM

And now, for the real massacre!

Giant Hornet vs. even bigger Japanese man!

http://eat.bees.net/wasp5.jpg

This came off a site called eat.bees.net ?!?

micah67 06-17-2004 01:47 PM

I was impressed with the camera work.

...and I wouldn't call it "funny". Amazing, yes.

Tophat665 06-17-2004 06:34 PM

I fucking HATE giant hornets. Goddamned things are big as a cicada. They are the only insects I starve to death if I can catch them. And as a mead brewer, anything that kills honeybees is my sworn foe.

Absolutely. There's some kind of clean and brutal pathos to the whole thing. It must be pretty stark for me to be able to see it over my loathing of giant hornets.

-Ever- 06-17-2004 07:51 PM

That was one of the weirdest things I've ever seen. Probably the only time I'll ever feel bad for a bee. (I've been stung one too many times ;) )
-T

PS: Any way I can download the vid?

biznatch 06-17-2004 08:12 PM

Derwood 06-18-2004 06:48 AM

The video wouldn't load. Is it farked? I couldn't "Save Target As" either.

hotzot 06-18-2004 04:37 PM
