rsl12's 45 sec mystery #12
This english word is pronounced two different ways: one way if it's all lower case, another way if the first letter is capitalized.
|
Basil
|
Look up basil in the dictionary--both pronunciations are for both the capitalized and lower case spellings. But good guess--I do pronounce those two differently.
|
The?
(Thee-sounding, versus thuh sounding) |
How about herb, then?

Polish is right!
|
Although technically if I write the sentence "Polish the table, rsl12," I've capitalized the first letter and not changed the pronunciation...but I digress.
|
The only variant I thought of was job vs. Job. Job's job was one of extreme suffering.
|
That's pretty good--i'll have to remember that.
|
Read in present and past tense are spelled the same but pronounced differently...
His going to read. He read. |
Lead is another one.
Lead weight, and lead a dog, but the capitalisation doesnt change anything heh |
Here are some more:
August/august Associate/associate (this one's not as good, I think) |
