The 30 Second Mystery 37 - What?
 

There are four categories: Who, What, Where and Why. Some will be easy, some not. I have as many as six clues to help you along, which I'll supply as needed.

Please limit yourself to one guess, and another guess for each clue I supply. No questions asking for help or hints are allowed. Partially correct answers won't be acknowledged.

Wild guesses and comments are fine. In fact, they can add to the mystery and are fun to read.

The Case:
"Oh No!" cried the crowd. It was a cold February evening in the early 21st century and thousands of people had gathered in a remote mountain town. The velocity of the participant increased. Like Humpty Dumpty, there was a great fall and then the hero emerged from the ground with a valuable piece of silver. "Oh No!" they cried again.

The Mystery:
What was the crowd doing and what was the town?

Watching the groundhog emerge from his hole, and the town is... Punxsutawney?

i'm gonna go with "winter olympics spectators" in Salt Lake City, Utah.

oh sure, I finally get to one where the answer isn't there.... and I don't know it!

Clue: News stories post to the nearest desk heaquarters, not where the event occured.

Wow, I thought both of those answers were pretty good...

Clue: I'm not giving any more clues.

The crowd was watching a Quidditch Match at Hogwarts.

Pretty close, but it wasn't Salt Lake City.


Oh, so close, if only you hadn't called them "skiers".
