The 30 Second Mystery 35 - What?
 

There are four categories: Who, What, Where and Why. Some will be easy, some not. I have as many as six clues to help you along, which I'll supply as needed.

Please limit yourself to one guess, and another guess for each clue I supply. No questions asking for help or hints are allowed. Partially correct answers won't be acknowledged.

Wild guesses and comments are fine. In fact, they can add to the mystery and are fun to read.

The Case:
Against the recommendations of her family and friends, an elderly woman begins an unusual diet. Her menu includes a variety of foods, but ultimately she eats something that kills her.

The Mystery:
What was the first item of the diet and what was the last?

no idea--but i guess-
first: a cucumber
last: a bullet

A fly (I don't know why).
A horse (of course).

At first she eats whatever, but what kills her is eating nothing

Can "nothing" really be something? I throw my support behind micah's answer.

It is greater than God.
It is more evil than Satan.
The rich need it.
The poor have it.
If you eat it... you die!

The phrase 'her menu includes a variety of foods" implies that she is eating something. There aren't very many kinds of nothing. Micah's nailed it.

The lady that swallowed the fly then the spider to catch the fly etc?

EDIT: i see the question now, she first ate a fly and the last thing she ate was a horse
