The 30 Second Mystery 34 - What?
 

There are four categories: Who, What, Where and Why. Some will be easy, some not. I have as many as six clues to help you along, which I'll supply as needed.

Please limit yourself to one guess, and another guess for each clue I supply. No questions asking for help or hints are allowed. Partially correct answers won't be acknowledged.

Wild guesses and comments are fine. In fact, they can add to the mystery and are fun to read.

The Case:
The year is 1826. Two men who knew each other well are not aware that they will both die today. While they lie near death, their life's work is being commemorated by a nation unaware of their condition.

The Mystery:
What profession did the men share and what day did they die?

They were both Presidents of the United States who died on July 4. (John Adams and Thomas Jefferson)
