There would be a methane imbalance and the universe would implode.

Tense situations would never be alleviated with laughter from an unexpected one, causing people to go overboard and start launching ICBM's at each other destroying cities, sending people into panic, and eventually ending civilization as we know it. Frankly, I just don't want to see that happen.
