Who else hates their name?

My last name is Hancock. You can't even begin to imagine my school life :(

And everyone seems to spell it Handcock.

It's been made worse by comedians like Tony Hancock (no relation but older TFP'ers will have heard of him)

Grrrrrr

Rudel73 10-15-2003 03:44 PM

LOL No worries, its not like its your fault that you have an easy name to make fun of!

cchris 10-15-2003 04:03 PM

Yeah.

And two dogs is a great nickname also.

bundy 10-15-2003 04:41 PM

try having my first name.

no one ever spells that correctly, but hey, chill baby, i don´t mind, because i like my name.

Averett 10-15-2003 05:07 PM

2 years ago I was sitting at a local college hockey game and I see somebody hold up a sign that says #19 Hiscock is huge! I'm thinking WTF is that about?

Well, on the opposing team.... #19. Chris Hiscock. He was 6'4 245. I betcha Hiscock's cock was huge ;)

bernadette 10-15-2003 06:01 PM

i can live with my name.

but here's a true story:
my husband had a high school teacher named mr. mattick (sp?)

he named his son "otto"

i swear, it's a true story!

I had a journalism teacher in Jr high that claimed she went to school with two girls named Ima and Ura Pigg- we refused to believe- so she brought her yearbook- damned if it was'nt true- seems that the story behind the names was that their dad had lost a bet with a buddy (some buddy). Also in my town there is an auto dealership run by a man named Richard Head- that would have to suck... apparently if you work for him you never call him "dick" (he has fired people for this)

seizei 10-15-2003 11:13 PM

Hancock is NOTHING!!!!

I had a friend in high school whose last name was Hiscock.

I guess his parents thought they were funny, so they named him Preston.

Preston Hiscock.

Pressed on his cock.

Try going through life with THAT name!!!!

As for my own name, I wish I had a less common one than Ryan.
Something unique that would make people say 'wow that's a cool name!!'

theguyondacouch 10-15-2003 11:25 PM

My last name is a evreyday word, and people misspell it.

Lunchbox7 10-15-2003 11:50 PM

My mom bought her car from a guy named Donald Dick. :D

Four Fingers 10-16-2003 01:26 AM

In German, my last name means "Iron Mountain." That's pretty cool.

paddyjoe 10-16-2003 04:12 AM

While working in the camera store a couple months ago, this big round guy came in to buy a few things. He gave me his charge card and I checked the name out like I usually do,

Richard Bagg

took me a few minutes to get it. Jesus, WTF were his parents thinking. "Hmmm, gosh, lets have some fun and traumatize our little boy his whole life". Imagine in school, "hey you Dick Bagg". All I could say when he left the store, "WTF".

Sleepyjack 10-16-2003 06:16 AM

My name doesn't rhyme with any body parts so i am happy.

You can always change it though?

Redlemon 10-16-2003 06:23 AM

My last name cannot be spelled by anyone who hears it, and cannot be pronounced by anyone who reads it.

I also went to school with "Anita Mann", poor girl.

Preston Hiscock.

Damn, I think that's the guy I was talking about!!!

I could have sworn the dude's name was Chris, but I just looked at Mercyhurst's page and they list him as P.J. Hiscock. Apparently he played for a hockey team in Oakville from 1997-1999, I think.

Could he be the same guy you're talking about? How crazy would that be???

YaWhateva 10-16-2003 06:53 AM

I have real white skin but I am full Spanish. My name is Juan, i think its funny.

anleja 10-16-2003 10:05 PM

I used to work at a portrait studio, and the parents have to fill out the card with their kids' names and birthdates. This one guy named his two young daughters "Alexis" and "Mercedes." I thought that was kinda strange. I wonder if he knowingly named both his daughters after cars.

I worked with a guy whose last name was "Rector."

Okay, that is the extent of my bad name input. My name is common. My middle name is Lee. So is half the country's. I should do a poll, two options: is your middle name "Lee"? Yes or No.

jets 10-17-2003 05:23 AM

I have to make cold calls sometimes and I usually have a contact sheet. Over the years two people I'll never forget are a Mr. Whitebread and Mr. Fingerer. I swear I'm not lying.

bundy 10-17-2003 05:31 AM

imagine how the poor kid working at hotel reception feels when they have to ring Johnny Depp for his wake-up courtesy call, and have to say,

¨Good morning Mr Donkey Penis...¨

Yes. And I've thought about just going by my middle name (especially at job changing time). Kevin has always seemed weird to me. Especially since I'm not even a little bit Irish.

Munku 10-17-2003 01:55 PM

There was a kid in my class named Joe Balzac. I swear to god. He was cool though so no one made fun of him.

Yo ballsack. :D

If you mean Oakville, Ontario.. then it is highly possible!!! Preston and I both lived in Espanola, Ontario... not sure where he moved around 96..... because I moved away as well...
