Yes, I know the running gag is that they don't tell you, but in the episode where they go to Brazil, Lisa says the line
"Yeah, it's a bit of a mystery, but if you pay attention to the clues then you can figure it out."
With that in mind, I've been keeping track of states that can be eliminated with either direct or indirect references.
For example, Marge driving the Canyonero, she utters the comment, "Oh go back to New Jersey!" so NJ is definitely eliminated. Possible elimination consists of a destination city, but does not necessarily preclude a different state.

This is what I have so far:
Definitely excluded
Michigan, Texas, Missouri, New Jersey, Hawaii, Connecticut, Louisiana, Alaska, Florida

Possibly excluded:
Wisconsin, New York, Minnesota, Alabama

I don't remeber the specifics of each one, but what are any others and why?

Well you can also look at what springfield has to guess what state. They are obviously by a large body of water..most likely one of the great lakes or an ocean, they have a pretty dominant winter so it's not one of the further down states.
