Helpful hints for the new members
There hs been a huge influx of new blood in tfp, and a lot of repeats of the same mistakes we all made when we were new here. I know that when I was n00b, I would have benefitted from a guiding hand, a more experienced mentor, to help make my intergration into tfp less stressful.
I'm calling on the veterans out there... you know who you are, to take the newbies under your wing. Pick a Forum, and grace us with the wisdom of your experience in posting there. I'll start: When posting to Tilted Humor, always remember: 1) If you found it on the internet, we've already heard it. 2) If you heard it in a bar, we've already heard it. 3) If you saw it on TV, you are lame. (and we've already heard it) 4) Replying with "LOL" to every thread is a great way to get your post count to skyrocket and get your avatar quicker. (who, me? no no no no no) 5) Witty replies like "Wow! that's twice as funny as the first 168 times I heard it" make you appear mean and petty... and are lot's of fun. 6) Relax, have fun.... and you better laugh at Jadzia's jokes if you know what's good.....er...um.... never mind!:D Who's next? |
im not so sure bout 4 and 5, but I wish someone had told me the rest of em before I started posting!!!

General Discussion 1.) If you're posting an article, include the text of the article, not just a link to it. 2.) If you are asking a question in a thread, make sure to answer it yourself. Nothing looks worse than a thread that consists of a "one-liner" in a forum dedicated to discussion. 3.) Use polls only when necessary. Not every thread needs to be a poll. Some threads work as polls, others don't. 4.) Don't be afraid to speak your mind. If you disagree, say so and give the reason why. Disagreeing with another poster is fine, just don't flame. 5.) If you see someone flame, click the "Report this post to a moderator" link. Next. :) |
Tilted Nonsense:
1)Really, you've got tons of freedom, but... 2)Respect Bones, or he'll bitchslap you 3)Make sure the thread doesnt belong anywhere else 4)And post always in the "is" game thread. |
woah, number 4 just might get you banned from the tit tay board i thiink
|
On Titled Gaming:
1) This is similar to Discussion in that you can ramble on about nearly anything but it must be about games. 2) No asking for Warez and Emu software. (I believe that's in a notice somewhere) 3) If it's a hypothetical thing it belongs on Nonsense. 4) It's ok to ask for advice, we all need help sometimes. |

Rules... rules. If I gave you my rules of being on TFP, people would start disliking you. Just do your thing and be respectful  Oh, that's right. If you want to be really cool like me, put a thumbsup  at the end of every post, or where necessary. |
One thing not to do, is made your signature huge, if it consists of about 300 lines from some stupid song that i hate then i hate your signature, which you dont want, because you know, i control everything, everwhere, at all times, so ya....do everything i say. :)

For Wayside posting:
Just do it. You read the rules when you joined. |
Some that i keep in mind
1) do a search before you post it... cause there is nothing more embarassing than being beaten to the punch and having your thread merged with one from a day prior... slow ass slow poke. 2) Reply to everything I say, cause i think it is witty and insightful. And it fills me with joy. 3) Sadly Bones is wittier and more insightful than I. 4) Post more motorcycle related questions and pics in the Motors section. |

Thank you for taking the time to indoctrinate all of us who belong to the newbie class .

Regarding #s 4 & 5 above.... This is, after all, Tilted Nonsense.
I started this with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek, hoping some of our more creative (read: sarcastic) minds would poke some fun, pull some legs, toss out a few red herrings. 'twould appear I mayhaps touched a nerve, and should have posted this in General Discussion or Newbies. Meanwhile: 1) If you're posting to Tilted Motors, check your engine mounts. 2) Tilted Photography: adjust your tripod. Somebody stop me before I hurt myself! And, of course::thumbsup: |
