I assumed that it is some sort of sea critter
I was going through my photos from over the past few years and I came across this picture.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y25...ck/critter.jpg Excuse the poor quality, the photo was never intended for display and the light was very poor at the time. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone can help me identify it? I assumed that it is some sort of sea critter that sat on the rock whilst the tide was in, and then was washed away again as the tide went out. Any ideas? Thanks. |
I can't think of anything other than "old tube sock". Sorry.
|
yeah man, that looks like an old sock.
|
Looks like a covering/wrapping that would be found with a pair of shoe in-soles.
|
Awww man, I thought I had a novel idea with the tubesock resemblance..
|
It looks like a fish to me...
|
It wasn't a sock. :) I was there, I saw it, it definitely wasn't a sock. It was just like a picture on the rock.. but not. It's like a creature was sat there, and some chemical in the body or whatever left an impression on the rock.. only not an impression either.
I have another one: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y25...k/critter2.jpg |
I'm very curious about this! I like stuff like this... I'd most definitely say that it's a fish fossil, but I don't know what type of fish it is.
Where did you take these pictures? |
Looks like a crop circle to me:)
|
To my ignorant eyes - it looks like Australian aboriginal rock art. Perhaps ~10,000 yrs old.
Are you in the US? My guess is that the aboriginals found your country, did some artwork then sailed back. My partner thinks it looks like a discarded condom - but she's confused about the colours, pattern, and the size.... |

The rocks that I found these on were giant rocks planted by man to prevent the water eroding the cliffs.. so these were right at the top of the beach. This is what the rock it was on looking like (above the 'critter'): http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y25...ck/redrock.jpg I thought maybe it was that red stuff that reacted with whatever was sat on it.. |
It looks heaps different from this angle. More like a waste outlet or something. It almost appears to have eaten into the rock.
Honestly, I have no clue. But to me the first frame really did look like ancient cave drawings. |
I'm still only getting "old tube sock", even with latest picture. If my mind is in a rut, why isn't it a more interesting rut?
|
Bacon. Or a tube sock made out of bacon.
