Best Chai mix?

I'm looking for the best Chai mix to get. What's everyone's favorite? I got a canister of Trader Joes chai but was wondering if there is anything better out there.

I use Oregon Chai. I don't know if it's "the best" because I've tried few others, but I like it a lot.

+1 for Oregon.

i miss that stuff, not available where i live. :/

I'm drinking Infusion Chai Spice which is pretty good and at least as good as some of the pre-brewed expensive.... but wait... a quick internet search reveals that they don't make it anymore.

:(

mini rant: does anyone else get annoyed when people say chai tea? that's like saying tea-tea because chai actually means tea in about a dozen different languages. although the spiced milky concoction that is being sold is more of the East Indian style chai....anyways...
Doesn't anyone know how to make the real Chai?

take one cup water and one cup milk

bring to a boil.

toss in a teabag (or use 1-2 spoons of loose tea)

keep simmering

toss in a pod of cardomom (little green seed thing that has like 4-6 little black seedy things inside it).
add in a stick of cinnamon (powder does not work)
add in 1-2 spoons of sugar depending of you like your tea sweet or not
some people like to add in a couple of seeds of fennel
after about another 5 minutes of high powered simmering (almost a boil but not really, because you don't want the milk to burn, or bubble or congeal), take pot off the stove, strain if you used loose tea, and pour into cups. enjoy!
the whole process only takes like 15 minutes or so. serves 2

I prefer oregon pre-made because I generally don't have an extra 15 minutes.

My wife makes her own. About onced a month she gets the spices together (much like minimedgirl's) and grinds them we have a coffee grinder we use only for spices. She then uses tea with her mix and it takes no longer then makeing tea.

Thanks for the Chai recipie. I much prefer making things from scratch, even if it does take a few extra minutes. People are in such a hurry nowadays. And it usually tastes 1000% better. Makes you wonder why you ever bought the mixes to begin with. Though, don't know if I'll be able to find cardamom. Is it sold with the spices?

I really like "good earth" brand Chai. Yeah, its not the absolute best i have EVER had, but its waay up there. Plus they sell it at safeway.

If you can't find it at the store, you can find almost any spice you need at
Penzeys.

Slavakion-

Thanks for the Penzeys link. There's one in Grand Rapids not too terribly far from me. I'll have to drop in one day.

Tazo sells their chai concentrate at Starbucks... just add milk/water!

I've been making Chai from scratch (based on minimedgirl's recipie) lately and have been enjoying them much more than the mixes I have tried.

There are some more Chai recipies here.
