Your most hated food?

Kind of the flip side to marcopolo's "Food that makes you happy to be alive..." thread. What food or meal would you never again touch with a ten-foot fork?
Better if you've actually tried it before... Haggis is such an easy target, but who among us have even tasted the stuff?

So I'm going with oysters. Didn't taste great, and that texture... ugh. Never again.

Cynthetiq 04-29-2003 02:41 PM

lamb's testicles....

I'm not into liver at all....

snowy 04-29-2003 03:44 PM

Whipped topping--ala Cool Whip. I hate the stuff. It's so artificial and leaves a funny tasting coating on your tongue. I can't eat anything with Cool Whip in it...it turns my stomach. YUCK.

Met22 04-29-2003 03:57 PM

Just cannot eat organs! Liver and the like all taste nasty!

edmos1 04-29-2003 04:21 PM

how about lima beans, texture is no good

vermin 04-29-2003 05:31 PM

Raw tomato, cooked spinach, asparagus, lima beans.

The smell of spinach cooking is enough to trigger my gag reflex.

hotzot 04-29-2003 08:10 PM

brussle sprouts,..........ugh!

Macheath 04-30-2003 01:32 AM

Microwave reheated leftover lamb chops, with too much congealed fat and too much bone to cut around; with a side of limp, overcooked cauliflower and squelchy wet brussel sprouts.

Take a guess at what I had three nights ago.

GoldenOuroboros 04-30-2003 05:51 AM

lol MacHeath, it's good to see someone speaking from personal experience.

My last boss gave me some weird stuff to eat, urgh, his wife loved this it was like a meat loaf, but it was basically tounge, tail, tripe and some other form of ox/cow but it was suspended in some sort of spicy gelatinous stuff.. yeuk!

Lucifer 04-30-2003 07:24 AM

Sauerkraut!

txd 04-30-2003 08:38 AM

tomatos in and shape or form

I can't stand mushrooms or cooked spinach. Raw spinach in a salad or something of the sort is fine but not cooked.

sierra2774 04-30-2003 03:40 PM

Hamloaf! I have hated it since I was a kid.

My Mother said I would grow to like it, but 29 years later, I still can't stand it!

perripken 05-01-2003 03:57 AM

I remember literally gagging when my mother would try to make me eat liver..... Still can't eat it to this day!
Tripe! Yipe! Years ago I went out with an italian coworker who said I just had to try tripe. He took me to supposedly the best place in town. With my first bite I had flashbacks of my mother standing over me with the wooden spoon wielded screaming " Eat it, it's good for you!" I found that if I were only given the choice of liver or tripe if I was starving to death, that I would hope the food was much better in heaven!

You'd be surprised, actually. It really just tastes like a gigantic sausage.

For me, it would have to be beets...I don't know what it is about them, but beets are the nastiest vegetable I've ever had the displeasure of tasting.

gibber71 05-01-2003 10:47 AM

Tofu...nuf said

warrrreagl 05-01-2003 11:30 AM

Turnip greens and collard greens.

yabobo 05-01-2003 04:50 PM

dfcx cccx fdcx xcf Okara.....Liver.... = vomit............

Zotz 05-01-2003 06:09 PM

Of the food I've eaten and tasted, it would have to be either asparagus or cooked spinach.

Ratman 05-01-2003 06:28 PM

Natto- People either love it or hate it. I like a lot of fermented foods, like kim chee, saurkraut, and such, but soybeans? I shudder.

SexyCat 05-01-2003 07:43 PM

I dislike WAYYY too many foods to pick just one. I am a very picky eater and don't even eat lettuce which most people find to be weird.

spooney 05-01-2003 08:13 PM

I'm just starting to be able to eat lettuce...it has to be pretty fresh though.

TonySpilotro 05-02-2003 01:20 PM

How about that Braunschwager stuff they have in the deli case, I know Oscar Mayer makes some. The stuff is so foul smelling, I think it's basically seasoned, ground up liver.
Other than that, i pretty much am open to everything. Just started eating mushrooms a few months ago, never been a big fan of avocados unless in a spicy guacamole...

TonySpilotro 05-02-2003 01:21 PM

also, canned tuna, can't eat it. I love Ahi or Yellow Fin, raw or cooked, but can't eat the canned stuff anymore. Used to love it as a kid too...

I bet you say that to all the girls, heh heh.

splck 05-02-2003 05:55 PM

I'm not a picky eater at all, I'll eat almost anything. I agree with onesnowyowl that cool whip is disgusting, but further that with most artificial food products.
WTF is with people not liking food because of "texture"? Who the fuck cares what something feels like in their mouth? It's all about the flavor folks, if you don't like something because of the taste, I can understand, but texture...who the fuck cares?
Now bring me some veggies and natto.

Somenosuke 05-02-2003 09:51 PM

I don't like a -lot- of things. My big thing is salad, and condiments. Something about the taste of ketchup, mustard, and pretty much everything except BBQ sauce makes me feel sick. Lettuce does the same thing. No idea why.

ShadowWraith 05-03-2003 08:56 AM

for me eggplant is the worst. it has such a slimy texture and it just tastes so nasty.

Lebell 05-03-2003 09:14 AM

Of what I've tasted, Brussel Sprouts are by far the worst.

Of what I've not yet tasted, I can't imagine Haggis would be that good, but I would at least give it a shot. Now head cheese and blood cheese, mmmm, I might have to pass.

Some people freak over menudo, but fresh menudo is very very tasty.

greytone 05-03-2003 10:41 AM

Any of you ever had raw breadfruit? It is like eating cardboard.

Just about any organ meat is best left for the dogs.

matteo101 05-03-2003 11:56 AM

ground meats...i dunno why

kalashnikov 05-03-2003 09:54 PM

hot-dish...a Minnesotan tragedy.

kenshee 05-04-2003 04:26 AM

Raw tomatoes, string beans and liver.

tfbrown69 05-05-2003 08:51 AM

Head Cheese
Head cheese, also called souse and brawn, is a jellied loaf or sausage. Originally it was made entirely from the meaty parts of the head of a pig or calf, but now can include edible parts of the feet, tongue, and heart. The head is cleaned and simmered until the meat falls from the bones, and the liquid is a concentrated gelatinous broth. Strained, the meat is removed from the head, chopped, seasoned and returned to the broth and the whole placed in a mold and chilled until set, so it can be sliced...Mmmm

paddyjoe 05-05-2003 11:26 AM

liver and onions
kraft macaroni and cheese
brussel sprouts

TaLoN 05-06-2003 12:12 PM

i have to say i enjoy all of the foods mentioned above except for those testicles. I don't know why people don't like asapragus, it is my favorite food period. you guys need to try new recipes or something.

yangwar 05-06-2003 12:43 PM

Cooked spinach, ox tails, and radishes. Yuck.

Minx 05-06-2003 12:52 PM

Lima beans
Calamari (I think my past two experiences have been with poorly cooked versions as a lot of people love this)
Brussel sprouts....just can't stand them little buggers

rsl12 05-08-2003 01:17 PM

yangwar: oxtail is an incredibly nice cut of meat! if you had it shredded on a plate before you, i bet you would have no problem eating it up.

i eat almost everything, but i have *no* desire to eat dog ever again...
