Anyone got a good French Onion Soup?

I'm looking for variations on a French Onion Soup recipe. I've got one, but I wonder if it could be simpler, as this one takes forever to make. I'll have to post it later.

English Pub Style Fish & Chips

I think I know the basics, use true cod fillets, 1:1 ratio of beer to flour for the batter, but I think I just do not know the right way of cooking with hot oil. If anyone has some helpful hints, this bloke could use them!

Sauces

I am just getting into cooking and would like some advice on sauces. What no fuss way do you recommend for making them and which ones are a nice and easy introduction for a beginner?

Many thanks in advance for your help on this one.

not a recipe request..more of a Cooking Forum Request -

Nutrition information wherever possible?

*edit: I am sure if people have that available with their recipes, they will post it. If they don't, and you're really interested in it, maybe PM them or ask in the thread. If they don't have it available, there's not much that can be done. I know for most of my recipes, I don't have that information.

Looking for stuffed pork loin recipe

Making a huge going-away dinner in about a week and a half... I want to make stuffed pork loin and need a recipe someone has tried and liked.

Tried a few, haven't been satisfied with what I've found yet. Anyone have any suggestions? Sides will be white cheddar mashed potatoes, homemade wheat rolls and either assorted blanched veggies or string beans. Will probably also do a ceasar salad.

TIA

Hooch ????

Ok I know that hooch has several different alcohols in it and several different fruits, what I was wondering if anyone has another hooch formula that is different than the origional stuff, like any other alcohols or fruits that would give it a different but good taste, any advice would be appreciated, Thanks. :)

*edit: According to everything I've read, there is no way to get rid of the horrible taste of hooch except for filtering or multiple distillations. They also warn against mixing hooch with tomato juice. More information can be found at The HOOCH Page.

First off...JadziaDax...you rule! Talk about an organized forum.

Okay, so here I go. It may be a simple question, but my searches through the net haven't given me a good answer. How long do I grill chicken on the grill for? I'm talking legs, and thighs. Usually when I do it, I cut a little into a piece and take a peek, but that sort of gets messy. Is there a recommended time?

Looking for a simple but tasty lentil soup recipe.

I don't have very much experience in the kitchen, but one of my favorite things to have for lunch is lentil soup, especially if it's on the spicy side. (No, I'm not vegan or vegetarian.)

Does anyone have a good step-by-step recipe, including ingredients and preparation time? I don't have the slightest idea how to cook, so don't be afraid to provide details and warnings where there might be room for error.

Any other recipes for newbie cooks are also welcome!

Thanks in advance. :)

Anybody Have A Unique Buffalo Wing Sauce Recipe

Wondering if anybody has their own sauce for Buffalo wings. I imagine this could be a repeat thread, my apologies if so.

I know the basic recipe, Frank's Red Hot Sauce, vinegar, a little butter, etc., but I'm curious to see if anybody has their own concoction that they'd be willing to share...

Rump roast recipe?

I have never really cooked meat on my own before and so I don't know any recipes and such. I bought a rump roast and googled for some recipes. What do you all think about this one? Does it sound potentially good? Should I look for better recipes? Do you have a better recipe?

What to do with Jerusalem Artichokes (aka Sunchokes)

Picked up a bag of Jerusalem Artichokes the other day and spent a chunk of today trying to figure out what they're good for. I found several recipes on the net, but all of them were complicated and included other ingredients whose flavor would overwhelm the 'chokes. So I just tried different ways of preparing them with an eye on what the other recipes called for, while letting them stay at the forefront of the dish.

This is as much as I was able to figure out:

Of common vegetables, they seem most like potatoes. You wouldn't mistake one for the other, however.

They don't taste bad raw. I wouldn't mind them in a salad. However, I never make salads for myself.

They can be turned into hash browns easily enough.

They can be turned into chips easily enough.

They didn't go badly with spinach & garlic salt. I suspect plantains would have worked even better, but didn't have any handy.

So that's still not a lot to go on. Anyone here have a recipe that features Jerusalem Artichokes? I mean; really puts them at the forefront of the dish. What I was able to do with them was interesting, but not world shaking. It's a lot to expect from a simple tuber, but I want to be impressed.

Not sure if this should go here, as I'm looking more for a method rather than a recipe. I'm wanting to make my own dried stuffing, like stove top, only without the 10 year shelf life. Just something I could keep in the freezer for a month or so, without all those yucky 'celery' bits.

*edit: Most fresh stuffing recipes can be assembled and stored ahead of time. Also, making one now and then freezing it in portions for a short amount of time can be done as well. Some recipes for different kinds of stuffing can be found at Different Kinds of Stuffing. Please post any additional information in this thread.

Looking for recipies...I'm hungry!!!

Hey there...ok...I like cooking..it's cause I like making stuff and creating stuff...I also like destroying stuff too (eating it)...I am looking for some recipies cause the ones I got I'm getting bored of...this is what I'm looking for:

Not spicy
Can be made by myself
Can be made using regular household items...nothing real special...stuff that could be gotten at a grocery store
Actually making it or baking it doesn't take an hour to make...but it can sit there in an oven or a stove or whatever cooking
it hella good
no nuts, peppers, pepper, or onions...peanut butter is an exception and so is cooked, diced onions
I don't wanna have to spend a whole bunch of time putting it together...an hour max...but it can cook for awhile...I don't care how long it cooks...just as long as I can eat it the same day ya know...nothing too spicy...maybe mild mexican is the spiciest...nothing with nuts...I hate em...I can have onions as long as they are cooked and diced...

I just want to make something to eat for a meal or a snack...you know??? Like say I missed breakfast and had a small lunch and its dinner time already...you get what I'm saying ppl??? And I want it to taste REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY good...so gimme some good recipies so I can get cooking...I'm hungry...THANX
C'YA ?:-D

*edit: Just search through all the recipes we have here on our Tilted Cooking forum. Many fit your requirements.

Please educate me on clams

I don't know squat about clams. Here in Florida we have lots of great seafood, but most seafood restaurants, even here, serve those clam strips. I kind of like those (a childhood pleasure held over, I guess), but I might like to try making something with "real"
clams. I've seen them in markets here.

I know there are some clam experts out there. So what's the deal with "whole belly" clams? What about sizes? Are they a lot of trouble to clean and cook? Any recipe suggestions would also be appreciated.

Need a Black bean salad recipe.

Hi, I forgot what was in it but there is a cold black bean salad thing I love from when I was younger.

Anyhow I like black beans.
Anyone have a good recipe they can share.

Thank you,

I'm looking for a good recipe for jamaican jerk chicken. Not just the ingredients, but also how to grill it authentically. I can get my hands on just about any pepper grown so I'm hoping someone who has spent some time there can give me an original recipe. Thanks!!

Okay, the place that I usually go to order garlic fries are really starting to dwindle in terms of quality of food and service. Know any good recipes for garlic fries? It's the kind you can get at ballparks or Mr. Pizza Man, but I'm open to other recipes as well. Homemade is probably slightly more healthy than the stuff they sell you anyway. Thanks again!
