McDonald's.

Ditto McDonalds or Burger King or Wendys or well fast food in general...how people can shovel in that garbage is beyond me

Wes, are we starting to agree? What's up with that?

Taco Bell on Lodi Ave. in Lodi, CA. I stopped off on highway 99 on my way to either Stockton or Sacramento, I can't remember which. iirc, I ordered what I usually order: 2 tacos and a burrito supreme. I don't go to Taco Bell often, but during longer drives I'll occasionally stop off for fast food simply because it's convenient. That policy stopped in 2001.
The first taco was fine. There was the runny, odd beef, the iceberg lettuce, the bland tomatoes, and the cheddar cheese all in an okay shell. I even added some of the Taco Bell hot sauce in it. The second, however, was full of flies. Yes, flies. Musca domestica. I discovered this only after taking a bite. I'm not necessarily against eating insects, after all they're a much more environmentally friendly source of protein, but flies are especially filthy animals when in the wild. Needless to say, I was not happy with my taco. I got the dry heaves and tossed it. |
Peel Pub (now defunct) in Toronto.
No shit, the pizza was frozen and the "pepperoni" was some kind of balogna and the cheese was process. Awful. |

Worst place ever eaten...it's gotta be this seafood place in Surfside, Texas. It was crowded and the only tables left were outside. It happened to be prime mosquito season, and I was attacked all throughout dinner. The meal was average at best, but the experience was terrible. I haven't been back since and I don't plan on returning. |
I sent back sushi at a Japanese steakhouse once.
$60 worth. The salmon was stringy, the tuna was stinky... That was the worst, I think. |
It was 1990, in Budapest, and about 3 am. The natives that we were with suggested grabbing some pizza from some food truck in a square somewhere. When we ordered it, the server asked if we wanted ketchup with it. In retrospect, the correct answer was "yes". The "pizza" was a somewhat fishy-tasting square of thick bread, and it had corn and peas on it. I wish I had a photo of this "pizza".

I was just reminded. I tried Indian food a couple years ago. It's the worst.

The Wheelhouse in Bandon, OR. My husband ordered a pita sandwich that was nothing more than super-greasy sauteed vegetables in a pita with nothing else. I had a salad and some clam chowder, but the salad came with some weird dressing on top that resembled nothing like Thousand Island. It was seriously gross. Ultimately, it made us sick, ruined a camping trip, and we had to go home early.

a restauarent attached to a hotel in Great Barr
All the staff are first generation Italian (or at least speak English with very heavy accents),but they serve English food. For 13 sterlings they served me a huge lump of pate that obviously was from a supermarket (the lump was the shape of the container it had been banged out of, served with three Jacobs cream crackers) to start Main course was a steak. They didnt ask me how I wanted it and served it very very very well done. No steak knife and I literally couldnt cut it with the normal eating knife. On the side were two inedible onion rings (I didnt try them, you wouldnt have either if youd seen them) and some slightly burned chips. I asked for some sauce with my chips, 5 mins later a plate covered in sachets of sauce was slammed down on my table... the lady at a nearby table asked if she could have some sauce, so the waiter promptly took the plate away from me (before I'd actually taken any sauce of it) and gave it to her. Table cloth filthy, chairs uncomfortable... staff rude to the point of physical aggression. I really should have refused to pay the bill but after the sauce thing I just left the money on the table and walked out. |
A Waffle House in North Florida, it was disgusting.

sounds to me like you had a rough time. :( at least you'll know not to eat there again. i often wonder how places like that actually still get customers and manage to survive. shocking ---------- Post added at 05:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:27 PM ---------- Quote:
what was wrong with it? personally i'm not a waffle fan, but that's just me |
Well, if it was in Jacksonville, that was the problem.
Waffle Houses in Jacksonville are some of the Scariest Places On Earth. |
Do airplanes and public schools count or is that kind of comparison just not fair?
Back on land though I would say that a dennys off the interstate somewhere up north in florida is the worst service I've ever gotten, with a bluntly rude staff and taking literally an HOUR to get our food despite the restaurant being empty. For food quality that award goes to a dominoes next to UCF where I got what was basically an oil sandwich made out of two pieces of cardboard, some old stringy elmer's glue, and "pepperoni" that I don't even have a metaphor for. I was quite violently ill after that one. |

totally hear you! plain food makes me feel really icky. :( now when ever i go on a plain i'm always sure to eat at the airport beforehand. the only thing i've managed to actually keep down on a plain is a cream cracker. i don't even order from the sweet snack bar anymore, i've had too many experiences that have put me off. iwww... i'm gonna stop before i do feel sick :( |
