The ultimate ice cream thread
{There's a similar thread but it's 2 years old }
Post your favorite types / flavors / brands / etc. ^ My absolute favorite. I normally don't care for Blizzards but this one's to die for. And it's fat free........... or something. :/ ^ I'll eat the ice cream part in the beginning. But as I continue through the pint, like a child, I'll start to just pick out the brownie pieces. ^ I've loved these since I was a toddler. They're way good for being a cheaper brand. ^ Another good one for being a cheaper brand. ^ I can't find this one anymore . I hope it wasn't discontinued. Typically I'm a chocoholic but this is definitely an exception. |

And I forgot about Coldstone Creamery here. I'll get their Chocolate Peanut Butter shake. Omg soooo good. When you suck it up through the straw, you get tiny pieces of frozen peanut butter. I also love chocolate malts. Yum. |

It's like chocolate fudge, Oreo, brownies, and chocolate chunks.
It's truly Xtreme. I keep telling myself to try other flavours more, but it's soooo hard to pass up.

Quite frankly, I'm surprised you haven't.
What, do you hate chocolate or something?

Well Blizzards used to be nothing but vanilla soft serve and M&M's or Oreos or Heath bar or something boring. So I never frequented Dairy Queen. But I happened to hit one with my bf a few months ago and discovered the Midnight Truffle bad boy and got hooked! I think they're up to 25 Blizzard flavors now? Anyways, thanks to you, I may be making a DQ run later today .
---------- Post added at 03:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:58 PM ---------- ...But when I would go to DQ, I always used to get that brownie hot fudge sundae with extra hot fudge. Seriously, I take chocolate to the 'Xtreme' (pun intended.) I've bought containers of cake frosting before just to snack on. :/ |

These days, it's Rita's Ice for me. Fantastic flavors. I usually get the mix with vanilla custard, either layered with a spoon, or blended with a straw.

we got Rita's Water Ice here, too....I think they started in Philly. Very yummy. My fav is passion fruit gelati, which has vanilla custard on the bottom, then passion fruit water ice, then topped with a swirl of more vanilla custard. Like this:
As far as DQ, I go for either the Snickers Blizzard or the Pecan Mudslide or the Peanut Buster Parfait We also have a local Coldstone, but along those lines I prefer the local Maggie Moos...very rich and creamy ice cream and whatnot |

My favorite Blizzard doesn't seem to be on most menus but DQ usually accomodates requests. I like a blizzard with chocolate ice cream, peanut butter, and chocolate crunchies. Its sort of like a butterfinger blizzard but it doesn't get caught in your teeth.
Outside of DQ I love gelato. There is a fantastic place in DC called Dolcezza. Amazingly interesting flavors. I always get cinnamon as that is my favorite, then I get another flavor that sounds interesting. The combo is usually gross, but I like trying new things. Last time I got Avocado Honey Lime along with my cinnamon. Tasted gross when mixed, but individually very good! |
