I had a new Burundi Bwayi this morning... it was delicious.
Now I'm downing a half-gallon of water before I hit the shower. It's freaking brutal out there.

Love the label on that wine, borla!
Tried to make a comforting mug of hot chocolate. What I thought was the natural raw sugar turned out to be garlic powder. Currently cleansing the palate with marshmallows and a properly sugared cocoa drink. |

Nice choice of hops. One of the local brewpubs has been doing a series of beers called the One Hop Wonder--same basic recipe but with a different hop every month. It's been a great way to learn how to differentiate between the different varieties. The Cascade one was my favorite so far, but I think I might be biased since that is the dominant type of hop grown around these parts
I'm enjoying some sauvignon blanc right now from Crossings in Awatere Valley, Marlborough, NZ.

The single hop thing is/was popular among home brewers for a while too. Some feel that a SMaSH recipe, or single hop single malt brews are a good way to find how different malts and hops influence a beer.
But I've known for quite some time that Cascade is by far my favorite. Now back on topic, I'm having another 2010 Bigfoot.

Something just feels wrong about getting sangria in a bottle from Bacardi.
But I've never liked the idea of premixed mixed drinks.

I'm on my second bottle of Three Philosophers ale. When I'm (or you're) in the mood for this sort of more complex taste, this is great stuff!
It's brewed by Ommegang Brewery in Cooperstown, NY...GO BASEBALL! It's a blend of a rich, malty, Belgian-style ale with authentic Lindeman's Kriek, a classic Belgian cherry ale. The cherry flavor is subtle to my taste, the label says 98% ale + 2% ale with cherries. |
