Pepperidge Farm(R) Tim Tam(TM) Cookies Make American Debut
PRESS RELEASE
Pepperidge Farm(R) Tim Tam(TM) Cookies Make American Debut
Down Under Favorite Now Available in United States at Target Stores Nationwide for Limited Time

Last update: 11:34 a.m. EST Nov. 11, 2008

NORWALK, Conn., Nov 11, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Bakers at Arnott's in Australia have been delighting consumers "Down Under" for over 40 years with Tim Tam(TM), an iconic Australian 'biscuit' that takes the sweet life from ordinary to Aus-some! Pepperidge Farm, sister company of Arnott's, is introducing this decadent favorite to Americans beginning this November to tempt, tantalize and delight, layer by layer. Both Pepperidge Farm and Arnott's are subsidiaries of Campbell Soup Company.

"In keeping with the tradition of our founder, Margaret Rudkin, Pepperidge Farm is thrilled to introduce Tim Tam to American consumers. Margaret searched the globe to bring back delectable cookies and crackers to the U.S. that are now beloved icons to Americans, much like Tim Tam biscuits are to Australians," said Michael Simon, Senior Vice President/General Manager -- Snacks Division at Pepperidge Farm. "We're certain Americans will soon understand why this scrumptious cookie is all the rage in Australia."

The number one chocolate biscuit in Australia, Tim Tam cookies are truly irresistible! Beneath a smooth layer of heavenly chocolate fudge, between two layers of crispy biscuits, a mouthwatering layer of chocolate creme awaits. Pepperidge Farm is pleased to offer Tim Tam cookies in two delectable varieties - Chocolate Creme and Caramel. Available exclusively in Target stores nationwide, Tim Tam cookies are sure to bring deliciously sweet cheer to families this holiday season.
With such a loyal following, it's no surprise that Australians consume over 400 million Tim Tam biscuits each year -- that's 35 million packs. And earlier this year, a joint poll by The Times in the United Kingdom and news.com.au in Australia ranked Tim Tam as one of the best inventions since sliced bread. Tim Tam came in at number four behind stiff competition: The World Wide Web, penicillin and the TV remote!
Pepperidge Farm Tim Tam cookies are available from November 2008 through March 2009 at Target stores nationwide, with a suggested retail price of $3.39. For additional information, please visit Welcome to Pepperidge FarmŽ.

I've heard tales of these wondrous confections. It will be interesting to see if the hype is deserved.

I never heard of those, but now thanks to Cynth's inspiration, I will be eating some as soon as I find them. There's a Target on my way home so I'll have to see if they have them yet.

Not knowing what they are, I wanted to see what they look like:

...and then I also found this strange down under custom of biting off one end and sucking up your mug of hot coffee thru the Tim Tam...I gotta try this, it sounds great!

The Tim Tam Straw is Astralia's greatest invention.

My Aussie friends here always bring a pack or two whenever someone has a BBQ. I had one just the other day and it was quite tasty.

Any word on how the US version stacks up to the original?

ryfo 11-13-2008 12:14 AM

Yes I have had tim tams too many times to count and I have drunk hot beverage thru them. But they are just a biscuit so any choc creamy crunchy melty bikkie should do if tim tams are unavailable.

I found this: The Tim Tam Test: U.S.A. vs. Australia
but the press seems to indicate that it's merely branded by PF.

I'm still trying to figure out if these are the biscuits a friend from Vancouver had brought me a few years ago. :hmm:

Cynthetiq 11-13-2008 01:17 PM

I won't say it's just branded.... most food products are altered slightly to match the local tastes. It is only when it is imported that it is 100% the same
