Hal Visits San Francisco

I'll be in SF on the July 4th weekend. Who wants to hang out?

ubertuber 07-01-2008 01:29 PM

Dammit. I need a break. If I wasn't working for the holiday weekend, I'd drive up.

Same here. I'm probably going to be on the phone all weekend. I'm on the phone right now, even.

Sorry, buddy. Maybe next time?

House of Nanking in Chinatown, across the street from Coppolla's bar, is one of my favorite restaurants in the whole world. The owner will order for you and you will be surprised at the consistent goodness of every dish. Its the way to go - just let him have the control. He knows what best. The only thing I would request is the green onion pancake, the rest is in his hands. mmm.

Have a good Bay area fourth! Snap, Pop! Oooo, ahhhh!

I still love Tarantino's on Jefferson by the wharf. Be sure you drink a wine (chardonnay) from California. French wine has no place on the wharf.

Then you're gonna be in Denver on the 13th for my birthday party?
Right?

inBOIL 07-01-2008 04:18 PM

I would, if I wasn't leaving town.

genuinegirly 07-01-2008 04:59 PM

Bummer, we just moved from that area. Have a blast!

Don't forget to give City Lights Bookstore my regards. Miss that place!

And don't go to City Nights. That club sucks.

Just across the way from City Lights is Vesuvio, an old bar where many a Beat hung out; I recommend at least stopping in for a pint of Anchor Steam, if nothing else.

...and this is why I moved to New York. :p

Sooner or later you'll deign to visit your Chicago contingent, and then all holy Hell will break lose.

In other words, this ain't nothin...

And for god's sake, if you're going to drink wine, drink something that doesn't taste like you're drinking melted butter. If you can find a Castellano di Amorosa pinot grigio that's nice and cold on a hot day, you'll be a happy guy.

Damn it, I just read this!

ipollux 07-23-2008 08:24 PM

I read (and joined, for that matter) too late. :(
