So I'm sitting here with my girlfriend looking at porn and we decided that we need to have a Denver/Colorado get together.

I'm thinking mid-July. Seeing as how my birthday is July 14th. That should give people enough time to get here and/or make plans to get here.

so are we expected to throw u a big party? i take it that the get together will be on the night of the 14th too? :P

just out of curisity though.. how did u go from watching porn with the mrs, to wanting a denver meetup?

Flew in at 9, had 4 meetings, back out on the 7. It wasn't that I don't love you and all that shit, just that I barely had time to call my wife all day. But for mostly preliminary meetings/cold calls, it went exceedingly well.

Next time will probably be an overnight, so I could meet up after dinner. Honestly, I could probably make it back before then as well as in July.

I think we all know that World's Queen has turned WK into a sleepy kitten that lounges around the house all day mewing for a fresh bowl of milk. Sorry to say, Hal, the wild terror of LoDo that you crave has disappeared from this world.

That said, if it happens to match up with the beginning of August, I might be able to make it, since I'll be in town for my wedding.

We'll be going through Colorado in mid-June when we move.
And it's going to take a hell of a lot to get me out of Chicago once we're back. :lol:

My new restaurant opens in a week so this summer is gonna be crazy busy.

I'd be extremely reluctant to meet people in real life. I used to be on another forum on a regular, daily basis. Many, many times I found myself in towns where I knew other members lived. I made a point of never mentioning I was in the area. More then once I found myself still in their state but posted or PM'ed only after leaving their city. Closest I ever came to a real life meeting was a fellow moderator who live in Minnesota, he and I just couldn't get the time to work.

But maybe if you went you'd work through some of the social awkwardness you're dealing with?

pfft. 5 of us came together for a festival from the forum i used to frequent. we ranged in age from 19 to 38 and the festival was awesome not because of the festival but because of the 5 of us. several years later i´m still in regular contact with some of my old forum friends. social awkwardness is meeting someone you don´t know for the 1st time. this is meeting people you do know. hell yeah you´ll have shit to talk about.

Anyways, a couple years ago now I had a wonderful opportunity to go to Rochester for a meetup there, and even though I had never met anyone there in person before, I had a fabulous time. Since then, I've attended three meetups in the Seattle area, and enjoyed all of them (this is before you moved there, Shauk). Generally, TFPers are nice people. I have social anxiety problems, and going to these things has been hard for me, but they've always been worth biting the bullet and doing it.

A few years ago there were a few of us from Salt Lake (they're all lurkers/gone now) and I was very anxious at the thought of meeting up with them. I did...and had a good time (I'm socially awkward as well). It was worth it and I'm glad I did.

hah trust me if I was in the States I'd definitely come to meet-ups. So you shouldn't waste that.

I had one meet-up so far from TFP here in Lisbon, and though I felt weird about it at the time, it was very cool and I enjoyed it a lot.

Yeah, I'm socially anxious too. In fact quite a lot. You don't have to like everyone you meet and they don't have to like you, but it seems that there being the TFP factor in there, should make it easier for everyone to get on ok.

Go anyway. I always have room for more friends. Challenge your boundaries. And have fun too!

I'll come to your meetup, World's King, if it's a free-for all. If it's invite only lemme know. Actually one thing that pushed me over the edge was your avatar kissing your girl unabashedly and your portrait in the portrait thread. "Hey, he probably rides a fixie, I could at least laugh at him about that!" (just kidding).

Make sure it's somewhere I can buy a beer or six. My wife might come, I don't know.

My new restaurant is a bit pricey so I'm gonna pass on that. There is a couple cool places around my 'hood that I'll check out.
