Toronto Lunch at Dangerous Dan's. Dare ye?

Do you ever feel that your not getting enough calories these days? Hungry?

Thanks to the Where am I in Canada? thread, some of us are going to try and get together for lunch, in November, at Dangerous Dan's Diner on Queen E. at Broadview.

http://www.dangerousdansdiner.com/

How about you? Let's pick a weekend and find a time. No reservations necessary. :D

I can't do the first weekend of November, but am otherwise open.

Siege 10-22-2006 05:23 PM

I don't think I could finish coronary burger for lunch. Hell, I don't think I could finish it period.

It'll be better for me if you guys choose a date, and i'll say whether or not I can make it. Most of my weekends are quite busy because of work and other things anyway. But if I know the date, I can try to make it.

Charlatan 10-22-2006 05:51 PM

Make sure you get your tetnus shots...

I have eaten there before and it isn't too bad. Fresnelly, just squash that temptation to go to Jilly's afterwords. Your wife will kill you!

aberkok 10-22-2006 07:09 PM

If it's on Saturday I can't, since I teach until 3p.m. (wouldn't get to DD's until about 4p.m.).

Sunday the 12th would be fab, though.

Leto 10-23-2006 03:17 AM

anybody consider a week day? Weekends are a huge scramble for me. that's when I put the most mileage on my car (those with kids and/or in-laws know what I mean).

But during the week, I can slip onto the transit, or parkway and be there lickity-split!

Thursdays and Fridays are usually quite good for me. No classes on either day :D

What she doesn't know won't hurt her ;)

Leto 10-23-2006 09:01 AM

I would vote for a Thursday or Friday anytime! ( I have no classes those days either :) )

...Fresnelly? What about you?

Leto 10-23-2006 10:27 AM

C'mon Fresnelly, my mouth is watering... I can taste that burger now.

I took the liberty of posting a portion of their menu below:

The Double D Proudly Presents:

For Only $ 14.95 (Royale 18.70)

Try our 24oz Bulls Balls Burger
w/ Fries and a Pop
For Only $ 13.45 (Royale 17.20)

The Coronary Burger Special
2 8oz Patties, 4 Slices of Bacon, 2 Slices of Cheddar and a Fried Egg on top. Served w/ Fries and Gravy, Can of Pop and Mayo as a garnish for sure!

$ 21.99 (Royale 25.74)

Royal means adding:

Deep Fried Mars Bar with Whipped Cream

paddyjoe 10-23-2006 12:53 PM

will someone please have that burger with the fried egg on top, and tell me how it tasted........

Siege 10-23-2006 01:18 PM

The fact that I can only get the deep fried mars bar if I get one of the specials is annoying. Not to mention the $4 price tag.

I might get the coronary burger just to say i've had one. Whether or not I finish it is another matter.

Leto 10-23-2006 01:27 PM

I can put in, and we can go halves on the mars bar....

Paddyjoe, why not make a day trip?

fresnelly 10-23-2006 02:21 PM

Friday can work. I'll see about taking the afternoon off, since there's no way I could ever go back to work after a meal there. :D

How about a Friday at around 1pm?

Holy Mother of God and Everything Good and Holy, I have seen the light!

This sounds like something I would eat on a dare. And I would eat this on a dare...

(Oh... for those who don't know me well enough yet... I've been known to eat entire pies for dessert. Seriously...)

Leto 10-23-2006 07:20 PM

well, are you 'in' Baraka?

Fresnelly! good on you! Let's shape up a date

Charlatan 10-23-2006 07:40 PM

Baraka... we need to put you in a head to head eating contest with Supple Cow (the reigning Queen of the ice cream sundae).

aberkok 10-23-2006 07:40 PM

Oh trust me... Baraka is in if he can make it. It's time for Baraka and Leto to join the ranks of Toronto TFP Meet-Ups. We need to inject some life into our meet-ups. It's been quiet lately.

Lucifer 10-24-2006 02:11 AM

mmmm, much as I would like to, count me out for this one. But I think that Janey might be up for it, if someone could pm her. Anybody got plans over Christmas? Duke of Yorks?

Baraka_Guru 10-24-2006 03:49 AM

Well, it certainly sounds good. But I can't say I'll try the "Quad C" this round--that is something I'll need to train for... literally.

I'm good anytime on weekends and after 5:00 on weekdays.

Leto 10-25-2006 01:17 PM

I think I may make a reconnaisance sortie this Friday... some of my work mates are intrigued with heart by-pass surgery, and want to try it out...

Edit: Friday evening:

Went to the diner for a burger. The food offerings are major sized, and the poutine was good. Decore is early model minivan.

I will be in town from Dec 23 until Dec 31 and might be able to squeeze in a few hours to have a beer if anyone is available.

amonkie 10-29-2006 08:58 AM

I will be stuck in NY for christmas as well... any plans that crop up I can try to make.

The 16oz comes with a pop and the 24oz comes with a shake :D

paddyjoe 10-29-2006 07:11 PM

they should include a wheelbarrow for your friends to get you out the door, too........

Siege 11-10-2006 11:57 AM

Hmm, this caught some attention and then kind of died off.

May I suggest the 24th (friday)? Aberkok will be back by then.

Nov 24th at 12:30 anyone?

aberkok 11-10-2006 02:08 PM

That works for me (I think). I'll double-check.

Leto 11-11-2006 05:31 AM

ditto, checking but sounds right

paddyjoe 11-11-2006 04:31 PM

I'll be on Long Island then, but I definately will check this joint out between Christmas and New Years. If any of you guys have recovered enough by then, we'd love some company.

Fly 11-11-2006 06:33 PM

damn you joe...........when the hell are you gonna make a trip this way?

fresnelly 11-11-2006 07:16 PM

I can be there, if not for too long. :)

*Monkie's meeting flyman, monkie's meeting flyman* oh wait paddy... :D

Daval 11-15-2006 11:59 AM

I had lunch at DD's last week and finally tried the Ribs. It was certainly a big portion, a little too fatty for my taste though. I think i'm gonna stay with my burgers there.

Anyone tried anything else on the menu?

Leto 11-15-2006 06:51 PM

i had the poutine. I gather that it is authentic, as the only other time i've had it was from Harvey's.

Nice thick gravey, fat fries and squeaky cheese curds.

Siege 11-20-2006 11:50 AM

This friday I might not be able to make it :(

I might have to meet with my group to work on a presentation.

Either way though, have fun guys :)

Mister Coaster 11-20-2006 12:23 PM

Too bad I have no plans to go to Toronto, if for whatever reason I ever am there, I'll give this place a shot.

jth 11-20-2006 01:45 PM

dang I used to work like across the street and up about 2 or 3 buildings from there. We used to go there or to that Jerk Chicken place on our breaks, right across from Jilly's right? Girls Girls Grirls Party Party Party?

I remember the poutine was killing

Leto 11-21-2006 02:31 PM

yes, right across from Jilly's .... So who's in for Friday? is there a role call?

aberkok 11-21-2006 07:30 PM

I'm in. What time are we saying? The earlier the better for me.
