Dukes of Hazzard
Hmmm, I could care less about the actual movie but I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing Jessica Simpson.
I think she is probably the hottest woman I have ever, ever seen. Before I thought she was very attractive, but for this movie she has really got her body in shape (not that it was even a bit bad before), and she just looks amazing. Her new music video... she's absolutely stunning. I'm so jealous of her husband, god damn. Yeah, so anyway... who else is looking forward to this movie?!?! ;) :D |
The Dukes of Hazzard is quite possibly the television show with the highest negative ratio of quality to popularity.
It stars Johnny Knoxville and Sean William Scott, possibly two of the most obnoxious men on the planet. Scott can be entertaining if he's given someone appealing to play off of; Knoxville does not fit that description. If I'm kidnapped and forced to watch it, which will be the only way it will happen, I'll be rooting for Boss Hogg. |
I may be delusional but I heard rumours of it being postponed indefinitely. And yes, that new video rocks, Arroe :)
|
I heard that too. I'm a Dukes a Hazzard fan and would like to see the movie. It looks bad but hey......Jessica Simpson! :D
|
If you can't say something nice ...
Oh hell, you couldn't pay me to see this movie. I'd probably enjoy looking at Jessica Simpson up to the point where she opened her mouth. Nothing turns me off quicker than stupidity (real or otherwise). |

Oh ya, I forgot Jessica Simpson talks in it! I might watch it on dvd.

I still can't get over it....
A blond Daisy?? Ugh. |
I think you're all being way too critical. The original Dukes of Hazzard was anything but serious. It was just goofy fun with sweet car jumps and a fine woman. I suspect this movie is going to try to deliver the same idea. As far as I know, it isn't supposed to be a carbon copy remake. The Dukes are different and it's set in the present. Keep in mind movie-making is often a business, and they also trying to appeal to a group much larger than those of us who watched the original show. People need to relax and take it for just what it is~ a fun summer flick. Perhaps it will totally suck, but there's no reason to get yourself all worked up because it has popstars that you resent.
Just my opinion! |

Call me crazy, but even though Jessica is definitely hotter, I think Britney Spears (before she chunked out, married Cletus, and became total trailer trash) would have been a better casting choice as Daisy, and in fact I think she was actually originally slated to fill the role. Anyone else know anything about this and why she wasn't chosen?
By the way, Jessica Simpson's speaking voice = fingernails on a chalkboard. |
The only reason I would see this movie is for the stunts. I'm tired of CG heavy films and would relish a low tech car chase/smash-em up movie. I've always found something balletic about a car jumping in slow mo. If they can deliver some well choreographed stunt sequences with a loopy sense of humour, I'm there.
That said, I'll wait for the reviews and won't hold my breath. I certainly don't belong to the cult of Jessica Simpson. |
Yeah, this movie is gonna be all about that 69 Charger doing sweet jumps for me. I heard that they had a hard time finding stuff for the bunch of 69 Chargers they needed for the movie because the Dukes tv series crashed up so many of them.

Yup :D --- I loved the show growing up (It was actually in reruns when I was growing up). I'm not a fan of any of the actors in the movie. I think Jessica Simpson is pretty, but I've got the internet if I want to see Jessica Simpson look pretty. I'm not normally a fan of Johnny Knoxville or Sean William Scott, but I think this is a case of good casting. From the preview I saw tonight, they do a good job playing the duke boys. |

Did anyone hear about Cooter (Ben Jones) forewarning DoH fans not to see the movie on his website? I read a small article about it.

There are very few shows that can translate into a full-length theatrical movie, and Dukes is down there with "The Love Boat" and "Different Strokes" in ones that don't need to be made.
On the other hand "The Brady Bunch Movie" worked fairly well, mainly cause it was done so tounge-in-cheek, and never came close to taking itself seriously. I might have considered seeing Dukes if it didn't cast Stiffler and Jackass as Bo and Luke, the TV show had a wierd innocent charm about it and it appealed to me...when I was 12... |
I get to see a free screening of it this weekend. I'll let you guys know how it is.
|
I could have sworn that this had opened and closed months ago. I just caught a "Coming Soon" ad on TV and at first thought it was about the DVD.
|
I saw the Cooter interview on the Today show about a week ago. I had to giggle every time he referred to The Dukes of Hazzard as wholesome family entertainmen, as if it were The Waltons or Little House on the Prairie. Yep, shooting dynamite arrows and running moonshine are good wholesome activities the whole family can enjoy!

*pulls up britches around chest* Them's fightin' words, ma'am! ;) :D Maybe not as wholesome as Half-pint and John Boy, but put it up against a lot of today's dreck, and it definitely rises near the wholesomeness level to me. |
I dunno....maybe it's a good way to teach kids how to fight the man. I mean how many times did Enis only ever get handcuffed to something or locked in the jail cell. *giggles*
Damn the man!! Fight the Hogg!! :p |
They also revealed that Ben "Cooter" Jones auditioned for a part in the movie and didn't get it. That was before he read the script... Don't think he may be a little bitter, do we?

Well, I just got back from seeing this movie...and I must say....DAMN.
Now, it may not be the best writing or acting I have ever seen on screen, but the movie delivers what it promises. Tits, Laughs, and ridiculous vehicular action. And that was enough for me to feel my 10 bucks was well spent. ps.....and slight Spoiler: The Super Troopers cameo was AMAZING |

It was just your average tit and ass jiggle flick....BUT I LOVED IT!!! I admit Jessica Simpson is much more attractive when she has her mouth shut, but what the hell... Them shorts fit her great!!

The wife and i liked this film. Mostly because we knew going in it wasn't Million $ Baby, it was a popcorn flick, and a stupid movie at that. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It was a silly movie made for fun that didn't take itself seriously, and that's why we liked it more than we thought we would. We get free movies and saw it opening weekend mostly because the father of a friend was in it, albeit Mr Corbin had only one scene.
In fact, there was one scene that I laughed really really hard at.. one of those times that many in the theatre were laughing because I was laughing so long. |
Dukes of Hazzard was a pretty funny movie, but it was a typical comedy. But then again, a typical comedy wouldn't hurt once in a while.
Anyone else liked the armadillo hat? I thought that was ha-goddamn-larious. |
