LOST: Hidden Messages
 

There are several hidden messages on the OCEANIC AIRLINES website. On the right side of the screen where the owner of the company places a message to all visitors about the loss of flight 815, highlight that area...there are distress messages beneath them. You can also view them within the source code. just scroll all the way to the bottom...i have heard that these messages are updated often, I posted below the current messages.

If anyone should find this message, please get word to Sandra Rafflethorpe of Palm Avenue in Lewiston, Idaho that her sister, Sally is alive and stranded on an island somewhere in the South Pacific. Please send help soon. Things are bad. And they're getting worse...

ok, i just resaved their homepage as a seperate webpage and removed the mask (letter to the passengers) and i see what you're talking about.

Some say it has a description of the monster but it is too small to make out.

What is also strange is that if you track the doomed Flight 815, it shows that it landed in LAX, but it still has an 'Alert' status.

Also, the numbers (4,8,15,16,23,42) are all over the site.

Oddly the above shows that the gate was 15 (one of the numbers) but we clearly see Hurley enter gate 23 (also one of the numbers). The flight also arrives at gate 43 (again, with the numbers).

Do we have any math people on the board? Are these prime numbers or anything like that? Do they have any numerical significance?

I'm only dipping my toes in here; I used to participate in the Lost thread here, but people were bad about including massive spoilers regarding future episodes in their posts, so I don't go there anymore. I only read at the TiVo community, which has strict rules on spoilerization. The last episode is discussed at LOST Finale - 5/25, and is up to 668 posts at the moment. This thread contains a link to a larger version of that pink page (as well as everything else hidden on that website), and a link to another website that obsesses over all the possible meanings of the Numbers. One odd Numbers item is that all of those are numbers retired by the NY Yankees.

on the oceanic air website, if you click on the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42 underneath the rows of seats, next season's trailer will pop up. it's pretty cool.

Maybe the island is Field of Dreams, of some sort.
I found on the Tivo board the description about the monster, from the pink script page:

Now the Mapinguari is a creature whose existence has been debated by numerous scientists and researchers. Some have said that the Mapinguari is the Amazonian cousin of Bigfoot [a.k.a. Abominable Snowman of the Himalayas] or the Sasquatch, Yowie [Australia] and Yeti [Asia]. The Mapinguari

Now what is a mapinguari...that is a supposed human-sized sloth-like creature reported sighted by Indians in the Amazon rain forest. It is a large nocturnal animal with a frightful screaming cry. Locals describe the Mapinguari as about two meters in height when standing on its hind legs. It is covered in red hair and emits a foul odor. Its feet are turned backwards and its claws are capable of ripping apart the palm trees upon which it feeds. Ornithologist David Oren believes the Mapinguari is real. He has searched for it for twenty years. Oren suggests the Mapinguari is a surviving ground sloth, similar to the (presumably extinct) Mylodon, which i have included a picture below . While the smaller tree sloths still exist, ground sloths are generally assumed to have died out around ten thousand years ago. So far no tangible evidence of the Mapinguari has survived close scrutiny.
