South Park Movie Reference

Hello all. This is driving me insane - I've checked message boards specifically for South Park, and even they are no help. I figure TFPers are a pretty smart group, so maybe you can help me out.

Has anyone else seen the recent "Toilet Paper" episode of South Park? It makes obvious (to anyone who's seen the movies) references to Godfather II and Silence of the Lambs, but there's also a scene in the episode where the boys are TPing a house, and before they're about to do it, Kyle sees a kid in the window and says "There's kids inside" and "We didn't say nothin about no kids!" and the music gets all fake-dramatic and it goes in slo-mo. It looked so incredibly familiar to me, but I can't for the life of me figure out the reference!

I think that the movie may have had some racial themes, and maybe a house was being set on fire? I'm not really sure. Someone else I talked to for some reason was thinking maybe it was from a Vietnam movie.

Any help would be awesome.

Pheonix I just wanted to take a moment to tell you that I hate you. I can distinctly remember seeing a movie recently with that exact scene in it. I want to remember someone paying someone else to burn down a building, and when the flunkies got there to set fire to it, one of the old grizzled guys saw the kids and said that after killing most of the people in the place.

No I can't remember what movie it was, or even how recently I saw it, but now my quest has become to figure out which movie it was... That's where the hating you comes from...

he he he Sorry man. If it makes you feel any better, this has been bothering me for almost a week now. And what's even more frustrating is that I've found 5 or 6 different people in different message boards who all remember the scene, but none of them remember the movie. But oh well. If you remember, don't forget to let me know

Hmm.. maybe Scarface? It is kind of a stretch though.

My memory is a little fuzzy (I should rewatch it) but when Tony was in New York to bomb the car he called it off because there a kid in the car. He may have said something with regards to "We didnt' say nothing about no kids".

On a little side note, does anyone else think South Park has gotten much better as it has progressed? At first it was just crude humor and shock factor.. now though they do more movie references and make fun of events in real life without shame (The Red Hot Catholic Love episode comes to mind). When I first started watching the show I liked it for the shock factor, now I'm starting to think these guys might be borderline comic geniuses. They're ability to make such crude parodies so funny and original is amazing.

Anyways, hope my movie reference helped... or at least maybe jogged someone's memory.

Not so sure that their parodies are that crude. It's often the societal issues being parodied that are crude. I agree there is some genius at work here - mad genius anyway. Just glad they have this outlet. Hate to see what would happen if they had to repress this warped creative energy.

As to the question at hand, now you guys have me obsessing about it. In my mind I see a school or a church, and yes there are racial overtones. But for the life of me, I can't place it. Then again, I could be just smokin dope.

If you want an episode with a lot of "racial themes" download "There Goes the Neighborhood."

BTW, South Park is genius......pure genius

Top 2 shows all-time: South park and Family Guy

That's what I'm thinking too, he's all "fuck that" when the guy wants to kill the kids, then he shoots him in the head.

I tend to agree. I remember when it first came out and was all the rage I HATED it. I figured I would never like it. I just didn't find it funny ( I still don't find season one funny) but it got better since then. It hit its peak in season 3 and 4 though. Seasons 5 and 6 were good but they are defintly going downhill now.

Edit: Oh yea, and to the topic of the thread I have to concur scarface. Just because I have never seen it and you can't go wrong with group mentality.

I love Southpark as do a lot of people. But I must say its refreshing to see another person who enjoys Family Guy.
