Last night was a decent episode again, a real race, teams are nose to nose basically. The army dude and princess aren't annoying me as much as previous weeks, and I like how they are giving rob and amber a good challenge.
Gretchen really really needs to be eliminated, she's been annoying the hell outta me! So, i wonder what the deal with the additional clue is? Is this just an extended leg with Phil making the suprise appearance, or is there a twist on the way? I kinda wish Rob and Amber used the yeild, they woulda been yeilded in a heartbeat by the gay couple. Wow, this round I can't remember anyones name :P

C'mon guys, cut Gretchen a little slack, she's got a head wound for heaven's sake.

What I don't get is why CBS ran a double episode last week with two seperate legs, but split a single leg up into two parts.

I was sort of dissapointed with last nights episode (and somewhat this season). This is the Amazing Race. What's so Amazing about looking in tin boxes and bringing people tea. Where is the bungee jumping and skydiving and bobsledding and other real challenges. I just have felt so let down lately with challenges...
I think R & A's yield strategy is appropriate. You only get to use it once, and they didn't need it last night. And although they might not get the opportunity next time, if they can and they need it, it will be better used later in the race. |

Excellent point, and I do not disagree with you. I'm just petty and wanted to see Lynn and Alex's face when they got eliminated (assuming last night was an elimination and the competition was so close).

Too bad this extended leg wasn't last week. Not that the brothers are out, the remaining teams are just not entertaining enough. Oh well, I'll still watch. I really don't care who wins.
But to one of the above poster's, Gretchen has been annoying since even before the head wound. |

Hooray! Hooray! They're gone! I whooped with joy when I saw the old folks come in fourth, not that I want them to win or anything, I hope they are knocked off next, but I'm so glad that lynn and alex are gone.
The competition between Rob & Amber and Ron & Kelly has been fantastic. I'm glad they've managed to stay freinds through this and I hope they continue to seperate business from pleasure as they have been. Kelly's line about not committing to things and the POW line was hillarious, I was having a sip of beer when this came on and it nearly came out my nose. Great stuff.

Ah, it has to suck to lose a leg of a race because of a shitty cab driver. Lynn and Alex were first out of the road block, and had every reason to not lose the leg, but that's what happens.
I was impressed that they actually went through with the Fast Forward. I've never seen anyone shave their head on the show before (but many chicken out).

I have to agree with Daval on this...glad Lynn/Alex are history. Gretchen was annoying last night on the elephant. Why the hell did she get on it anyway? I wonder if Joyce realized how close they were to team #2 after shaving her head. That would've sucked going that far and coming in any place other than 1st.

I must say, i thought joyce bald looked pretty good. I've never been partial to the look but I thought with those big braids she had her head looked completely massive, she really does have a nice petite head and with her big eyes I think she looked really good.
Kudo's to her for going through with it though. Maybe the rumours are true about those two, and if they are they deserve it in my books.

I was impressed by Joyce's choice. Because of her choice, they've moved up on my rooting list. And that wasn't much of a fast forward. I doubt they have more than an hour lead. (And I think she looked better after getting rid of the bad weave.)
I'll miss the boys. I enjoyed their ineptitude. And was it me, or did they always seem to have the worst cab driver? Meredith and Gretchen (or so I say Gretchen) get on my nerves. I will be severly disappointed if they make it to the final three.

The big ol' kick in the nuts was that U&J didn't get a prize for being first, and yet R&A get one every time they coast into first.

i was surprised to find myself rooting FOR lynn and alex last episode, but i couldn't help it... gretchen was just so god damn annoying. i'm definitely pulling for R & A and U & J the rest of the way.
i think that the "you got out of the army by being a POW" line has potential to be the "my ox is broken" for this season. i can't wait to hear that entire conversation. hahaha |

I for one can't believe that they didn't get anything for coming in first. I wonder if they don't always say it, or something like that. Anyways, I actually liked the head after the haircut, that old one needed a makeover, and she got it.
Anyways, thank God the boys are gone. I couldn't handle another word out of them. And like others have said, I think the line that Kelly said about being a quitter and he got out of the military by being a POW, I was so pissed. The guy could have been killed fighting for his country, and his girlfriend calls him a quitter. Think those to might have some issues to work out. I'd send her ass packing right after the show was over. |

Tonight is guaranteed to be a non-elimination. They have one NE leg left and they always go into the final episode with 4 teams (which they have now), so don't expect anyone to be elimintated tonight.
Season Finale next Tuesday?

I know in the past, the other teams give the bankrupt team some money so they get on their feet but it seems like that's a pretty awful idea in the Final Four. For Ron & Kelly sake, they better hope the other teams don't agree with me.
I think Rob & Amber will finish second in the race. Meredith and & Gretchen always give a vailiant effort but they are in their 60s so I don't expect them to be the runners-up. Ron & Kelly's bickering and lack of dinero will handicap them too much. That means I believe Uchenna and Joyce will win, click here for a spoiler of an explanation why: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showpos...4&postcount=43.

The most interesting part of the episode was the beginning. After taking the fast foward - Uchenna and Joyce only had a two minute lead. Not worth it.
The best part was Rob f'ing himself when he tried to yank the chains of the other teams, and he ended up sticking himself in the hole. For all of the R&A haters, it was a nice plate of serves you right for him. Next week we'll be down to three. About time.

I'm a R&A fan, but what good could come out of that joke? If anything they now would try anything to find an earlier flight. Well, he deserved it, when he watched that episode himself I bet he was mad...
We'll see, I'm ready to see who wins, and for it to be over. They need to take some time off and come up with a plan that will get them in areas where they can do challenges more entertaining than weighing some people. |

Ok, so tonight isn't the last episode like I thought it might be. Must be getting it down to 3 teams tonight with the finale next week? I thought in the past it was usually a 2-hour finale starting with 4 teams, losing one by the end of the first hour, and then a 3 team race for the finish?

I meant to comment last week but forgot... anyone else think that Kelly is a stupid, whiny brat? I could not believe she had the gall to say Ron got out of the Army by being a POW! She couldn't even handle being in a challenge without lipstick for crying out loud!

Well since next week is the finale, and Phil said that there was still one more "non-elimination" leg, we can only assume that the first hour will be that leg, with the 2nd hour getting us to the end. Great teaser for next week's finale...looks like it will be fun.

it looked like rob and amber were still in england when they had a run-in with the cops, so maybe they will still have a chance to get back in the mix before everyone reaches the US.
i'm going to root for U&J... they're by far the best natured people left, i think they deserve it, and i think they can win. R&K are falling apart and don't deserve to win and R&A... i just think their luck will finally run out (besides with the police), but i won't be disappointed if they do win. |

As long as Ron and Kelly don't win I'm fine with it. Of course I said that about Freddy and Kendra as well as Zach and Flo, and see where that got us.

Tonight's the big finale! Remember, it's on an hour earlier than usual.
Do we think that Amazing Race 8 is going to start really soon again (like this one), or are they going to take some time off?

Thanks, Derwood.
I would've missed the first hour for certain. EDIT: Hmmm, I just now looked on my sat. menu guide and it says TAR is coming on at the normal time. Are you privy to info that refutes the sat. menu time, Derwood? I don't want to miss it.

Welp, it's over. I'm happy with the outcome, for the most part.
I won't say who wins in case someone's recorded it later viewing. I liked the ep. I do feel a little manipulated at the ending, though. Spoiler: The whole scrounging for money and then showing the other team ostensibly catching up, but then it looked like there at the very end the winner had time enough for a whole speech before the runner-ups got there. I can live with that, but what got me a little weirded out was an ad for Rob & Amber's wedding being held on primetime tv! Huh!? Do we really need more of these guys?

That's just the magic of editing. They have to make it look close. They do it every year. Look at last year, when Freddy and Kendra won, you were led to believe John and Kris were close, but they got caught by a train, causing them to lose. Well, you could hear the horns of the train in the middle of Freddy and Kendra's winners speach.

Though I wanted Rob and Amber to win, I am always happy to see a team come back from seemingly insurmountable odds to win. U&J had to overcome a lot, and they were really the nicest people on the race (a la Chip and Kim a few seasons back). It's nice to see nice people win instead of shit heads like Freddy and Kendra or Flo and Zach

It was nice that Uchenna and Joyce got to win, but frankly, I think R&A deserved it more. The U&J were well back - hours back on that last leg and shouldnt have caught up. Its the stupid opening hours, and one flight available type things that piss me off.
Although I guess if the teams were days apart it wouldnt make for exciting tv. Oh well....
