Ok... some of you were taking about not realizing how bad shows used to be. Let's talk The Greatest American Hero, The Fall Guy, Simon and Simon, and "V" The Final Battle.

Please tell me someone watched "V" back in the day... I thought that show was great back in the day, but if you were to watch it now... Straight Cheese!

Charlatan 01-31-2005 01:40 PM

They started re-runing "V" the series on Space here in Canada... I agree. I like the show as a kid but, pure cheese is being polite.

Lockjaw 01-31-2005 04:00 PM

V scared the absolute SHIT out of me as a kid. People ripping faces off didn't fly well in my world.

Blaspheme 01-31-2005 04:21 PM

What, nobody else watched Dr Who? I was seriously addicted to that show, where else could you have the thrill of seeing Tom Baker save the universe from evil trash cans!

Good memories! :p

Ya know Charl I think they still show that short lived Spiderman action series on Disney. I've watched it a few times. They have the old ones with the poor animation and the ones not that long ago. They started making new episodes when the movie blew up and airing them on MTV. I didn't care for the animation though.

Asta!!

When I was a kid I loved Diff'rent Strokes, The Facts Of Life, Family Ties, Saved By The Bell and strangely enough, MASH. I think MASH is the only one I could watch right now. As for cartoons and kids shows, I loved Danger Mouse, PeeWee's Playhouse, You Can't Do That On Television, and Mr. Rogers. I still watch Mr. Rogers with my son.

And whoever mentioned Degrassi High...I'd totally forgotten about that show! We used to have to watch episodes of that in my Teen Living class in Jr high (it was a class designed to help you deal with peer pressure, find your identity, and all that kind of crap).

K-wise... are you talking about the live action one or the animated one from the 60s? The one from the 60s, I did hear that it was remastered and was showing on Disney or ABC Family...

I saw a few episodes of the MTV Spiderman and thought it was pretty good. The animation was interesting...

The live action spiderman was ass...

I remember watching the old Superman show, y'know the black and white with George Reeves, and then me and my friends would tie bath towels around our necks and jump off our porch railings.

Luckily, good times and no broken bones.

keyshawn 04-03-2005 12:19 PM

ahh...good times !

stunt dogs [i think that what it was called, not sure]

nickelodeon:
- welcome freshman
- adv. of pete and pete
- my brother and me
- salute your shorts
- rocko's modern life.

Those are ones that i'd still enjoy now if I could watch them....

other ones like legends of the hidden temple, guts [for now, are on the nickgas station, and are so bad, yet funny.

Saved by the bell is another one that comes to mind as well.....

when i was a toddler/preschool; i fondly remember 'under the umbrella tree' on disney and the game shows - press your luck, lets make a deal, where in the world is carmen sandiego, debt, supermarket sweep, and a few others..

Bah, the only game shows i'll watch now are win ben stein's money [loved that when it was first-run] and jeopardy..

Now...if you want to see some of these shows, YES - THEY'RE ONLINE , although some of my faves i've had trouble finding ones in good quality, or even any.

Resources:
newsgroups [seems to have more popular, newer stuff]

alt.binaries.multimedia.cartoons
alt.binaries.multimedia
alt.binaries.tvseries

[some shows, like simpsons, south park, futurama, 24, have their own groups]

IRC - has the rarer stuff that we're talking about in the thread.

www.rewindtv.net

[i dont use irc much, but that's a start]

If you want to even know if the show has been released on dvd yet or its status:
www.tvshowsondvd.com

Feel free to add other resources to help find our beloved shows....

Taxi - -Reverend Jim is probably one of my favorite television characters of all time, and probably had some of the best quotes of any character on the telly. One of my personal faves... (that I've used in some variation for as long as I can remember)

I went to Woodstock... Yep, half a million people gathered together in peace and harmony, grooving to Joni and The Who... hey, you know, if I hadn't gone, there would have only been 499,999 people... lucky for them I went.

I know I'm a little bit late on this thread, but I just read through it today and it got me thinking about the two first shows to come to mind when I think about my childhood. I'd say by far, my two main shows would definitely be Saved by the Bell and Boy Meets World. I'm convinced that Amy and Alan Matthews had a hand in my upbringing, as sad as that sounds.
