Faceoff
I watched Faceoff tonight. It was the first time seeing it for me (I know I'm real behind on movies) and I thought it was pretty good. Did anyone else think that movie was rather ridiculous though? So many things were just like, "wtf!?"
|
Cage is outstanding in that movie, but yeah it is way out there, but then most movies, specifically action movies ignore physics, medicine, and common sence. Just an entertaining John Woo movie with over the top cineamotography a large dove budget.
|
I think the best part of that movie is watching the skill in which Nicolas Cage and John Travolta play the personas of their characters and have to swap halfway through. But yeah, John Woo = flames + doves.
|
Yeah because this movie was made back in like the 80's or somehting, before there was good special effects. Just kidding. I liked it, but I have to admit it has been a long time since I have seen this movie.

I forgot how out there it was. Good. But no. |
I never did get a chance to see it, but with all these reccomends - ill have to give it a shot. maybe ill rent it this weekend.

I also watched this with my sister, for the first time in a few years. We laughed uproariously at many of the ridiculous plot holes and abuses of science. The best/worst thing about Face/off is that the actors are so much better at playing the other character. Travolta makes such an excellent psychotic killer, whereas Cage just comes off as goofy, and Cage is a sympathetic hero, while Travolta is whiny and obnoxious. That movie does have one of my favorite bits of dialogue ever, though: "Ooooh-wee you good lookin'! You're hot." It's a popcorn movie, fun, but not to be thought about.

Seeing Dominique Swain's ass in the movie always makes me want to watch it again...I'm a perv :D
Asta!! |
One of their best films...although Cage as a bad guy never felt real to me. Now travolta pulled it off perfectly. To all that read this thread and havent seen it and are fans of these actors I say: "Where the f@#k have you been and why arent you speeding to your local viceo store to watch it right now?" They play off each other so well its scary. And the plot is over-the-top but still believeable (does that make sense?). So go see it. Go. Right now.

Yes, its kind of a cult classic between me and my friends. We used to quote John Travolta's Character toward the end of the movie when he says somthing like "Weeeeeeeeee, what a perdiciment!"
