I'm randomly watching Mr. Wonderful on the Spanish channel and just saw James Gandolfini! Hilarious. It almost made me want to netflix it just for that. He was awesome in True Romance of course.

What other old school/first appearances do y'all know of for other actors?

Many episodes of the old Twilight Zone feature actors that went on to be stars.

I always was amazed by a teenage Lawrence Fishburne (Larry Fishburne) in Apocalypse Now; especially since he lied to Coppola about his age, much like a young guy might do to fight in a real war.

Speaking of Larry Fishburne, he was in the classic Nightmare on Elm Street 3 : The Dream Warriors.

I just saw Top Gun on TNT for the first time in A LONG time and noticed Tim Robbins was one of the pilots.

i remember seeing billy bob thorton in Blood in, Blood out. I dont know if its his first role, but he played some weird sleazy inmate.

Great ones folks. Fishburn in Apocolypse IS awesome. Chris Rock as a crack head in New Jack City is also a classic. His famous, "..it's cawlin' me man. It's cawlin' me..." is priceless.

there's lots of them all over the place.. i see them all the time and annoy my wife with the "rewind to verify"

sometimes it's a passing camera walk by with no credit, and sometimes it's uncredited.

I watched "Giant" a few weeks ago... I was surprised to see Hopper in it.


Really obscure, but not an actor... Trent Reznor is in "Light of Day"

Richard Dreyfuss going "Should I call the cops?" in The Graduate was pretty funny.

Oh, and Johnny Knoxville in "Coyote Ugly" kind of threw me off too.

I haven't seen it since I heard about it, but Kevin Costner is supposedly in the big party scene at the end of "Night Shift".

I was watching Beverly Hills Cop last night and Damon Wayans was the "Banana Guy"

Anyone remember two time Oscar winner kevin spacey in richard pryor/gene wilder vehicle See no evil Hear no evil. He played this really bad moustachiod english guy. looked like a gimp of maximum proportions. Certainly didnt look like hed be winning oscars.

Affleck in Voyage of the Mimi, a PBS film we watched in grade school.

William H. Macy played a street punk in the Elvis movie "The Creole Kid". It cracked me up. Probably the only tough-guy part he's done.

It made my day when I spotted him.

A lot of you have probably already seen the a clip, if not the whole movie, but Helen Hunt was in some after-school special about drugs. She gets high and throws herself through of a window.

Another one that I just saw recently was in this really really bizarre movie called Body Double. I only caught the very end of it last weekend, but I saw the whole thing a long time ago. Not sure exactly what's going on for most of the movie, but I know there's a stripper involved, necrophilia, and some other weird thing I can't remember. Anyway, as the credits are rolling, there's a scene where a crew is filming a horror movie. The director is Dennis Franz (Sipowicz from NYPD Blue). I was very surprised.

That strange movie was made by Brian DePalma. A few years before that, he made "Blowout" with John Travolta. Dennis Franz has a bit part in movie as well.

BTW, Melanie Griffith was in "Body Double".

Flea and Anthony Kiedis from the Red Hot Chili Peppers play truck drivers in The Chase. Flea is also in The Big Lebowski but has a speaking part.

I think Anthony Kiedis is one of the guys in "Point Break", I think he is the one that shoots himself in the foot.
