Things movies/tv shows do that make you mad.
Besides the obvious bad guy captures the goodguy and instead of killing him he puts him into an easily escapable situation there's a few things I don't like about movies. Like on a TV show, it comes back from commercial and you hear "... and the bartender said 'Tell that to the Frog!' muhahaha..." then they get back to the storyline like they were just sitting there telling jokes the whole time I was watching commercials... I can't stand it whenever they do this little filmmaking trick.
Another thing, I was watching Boston Public but about 90% of tv shows do this, A teacher made a speech somewhere across town and it went to commercial right afterwards, when it came back the teachers were walking into the school which means it was at least 20 or so minutes later but they seemed to be talking about it for the first time. Why weren't they talking about while they were leaving the place or in the cars on the way back. So what are some little tricks that you think are annoying? |
when on soap operas and other shows for suspence instead of answering a question the character will say something like "ok, you want to know my devestating secret? then ill tell you the secret that is so devestating it will shatter everything you know in this town. " and then cut to another section only to repeat that again when it comes back.

I've been getting kinda pissed lately at Comedy Movies that ALWAYS have that scene towards
the end of the movie where the music starts to get really moving, and sappy, and exaggerated at the same time, when some "special" and "magic" moment happens that really has nothing to do with the real plot. |
I can't stand it when there is BLATANT advertising in a movie.
Like when someone's wearing a basball cap with a HUGE Pepsi logo and there's a lingering close up on them. Crap like that really bothers me. I think we get enough advertising in our lives as it is. Plus it takes away from the meaning of that moment, or that movie in general. |
I'm bothered when movie-makers use their films to force their propagandistic and politically correct sermons about environmentalism, banning guns, abortion, AIDS, Homosexual marriage, animal rights, religion, gas-gusling SUVs, global warming, welfare, teen pregancy, pedophilia, racism, war, and peace down the public's throat.

Aladdin, what movies do you like then? You have kind of taken a majority of the movie plots out of the race. I personally hate it when the movies try to add a subplot to add a "special cameo" from a famous person.

I'll second the blatant product placement.
What really bugs me now that I own a TV show on DVD, is that they fade to black for commerical breaks only to not go to one. I really get thrown because I expect the commericial. |

I guess I'm opposite - I'm used to watching Family Guy on DVD and it's a straight 22 minutes without interuptions, then I catch it on tv and get frustrated when the commercials come on. Advertising in movies & shows I can deal with, but I'm with Grumbling*Girl on the blatant advertising. |
This might be slightly off topic, but during the presidential campaign, Bush's ads would always say "This message was approved by Bush, yada, yada," after the advertisement, so it seemed like Bush was really supporting the following advertisement which may be about something totally random, like Pledge, or Levitra.

I hate cliffhangers. They're not so bad at the end an episode, but its when its at the end of a season and the station announcer says "The new season will be back next year". WHY?!! If i liked the programme enough to watch it til the last episode, i don't need a cliffhanger to make me watch it again.
9 times out of 10 i miss the 1st episode of a season anyway.... |
Okay, I'll use a specific example.
"Saw" Spoiler: Put a bullet into the arm of the younger protagonist, and had the older lead saw off his leg. While the older lead went to get help, the audience thought that they were gonna survive. But then they went too far, and had the "dead guy" get up, and reveal himself as the Jigsaw killer. Me and everyone I saw it with thought it would've been better if the orderly was the Jigsaw killer. |
