anybody else looking forward to this one? it looks hilarious, and we all know the kind of quality stuff that Pixar puts out...

I hope to see it sometime this weekend. I've been looking forward to it since I saw the previews for it about six months ago. Samuel L. Jackson's character looks awesome.

The x-ray scene cracks me up every time. They can't get him through the machine thats priceless. I can't wait to see it. Pixar have put out so many movies I like. A Bugs Life being the most notable..."Yer a walking stick...IT'S FUNNY!!" gets me every time! I imagine after I see the Incredibles I'm gonna have a whole new set of lines I'll annoy the shit out of people with by saying them over and over again.

I went thinking that it would be an average movie- and was stunned by how absoloutly great this film was- the plot is seamless- it actually makes sense and ties up loose ends and is entertaining to adults and kids- and the characters were excelently real and believable- cannot say enough good stuff on this one.....

Just got back from it, and come out with nothing but praise. I wasn't a huge fan of Monsters, Inc or Finding Nemo, but this one put my faith back in Pixar. The characters are really fleshed out, and quite believable (given the circumstances). Since this is the first Pixar movie with the main characters being human, it's good to know they can write for more than talking animals.

You should also know that it's a bit more violent than their previous movies. Characters die left and right, but it's not dwelled on, and the action quickly moves on.

BTW, the visuals are A+. Those Pixar guys are at the top of their game.

I have to agree with this.
I just came back from seeing this movie and it has got to be one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. I was expecting a normal fun movie, but was impressed at how good the whole story is.
I definitely can't wait until i can buy the dvd.

Was thinking about seeing this but I don't like the crowded theater so went to Team America instead. I thought it was great, my wife.. not so much.

Excited about the Incredibles though, should see it within a week or two.

Excellent movie, money well spent. Go see this one it's worth it.

I believe it is my new favorite animated movie. I thought Shrek 2 was excellent but the incredibles just blew me away. Should be an interesting Oscar race.

This was awesome, me and Mrs. the_marq saw it last night and it's a damn near flawless movies. The animation is super-realistic to the point where I was begining to wonder if it was real. The story fit together maybe a little too well, and it was damned entertaining.

I might even say it was..... incredible?

took my boys to see it today and we were all blown away by it. the animation is absolutely incredible (no pun intended). pixar does it again (i thought finding nemo and monsters, inc. were both amazing as well)...

The movie was fantastic. they really did a good job with the characters, it was fun, and there was plenty for the adults to enjoy. The animation was really well done.

A wonderful movie. Although Monters, Inc. is still my favorite of Pixar's, they did a great job at making this one. The Incredibles felt more polished though, and I got absorbed into it's world really early on. I forgot it was animated!

I wonder if there's the possibility of a sequel? Since Pixar and Disney are splitting, would that not be possible?

Really? I hadn't heard that. It doesn't surprise me though, I think its safe to say that Pixar can stand on its own two feet now.

Heh, I think recently (in terms of movie income) I think Disney has been leaning on Pixar.

no, they still are contracted to do one more movie (cars) with disney, then they are "up for grabs" we'll see if this changes when Eisner leaves (he is the one Steve Jobs really can't handle.)

For some reason I thought the movie was going to be about various retired superheroes who were going to be forced to try and get back into the game. So I was expecting some comedy about out-of-shape heroes with rusty powers bumbling their way to save the world. Instead, it was more about a cartoon-family sorting out its problems and becoming functional with the backdrop of superheroism. While this is fine, I personally thought it was a little more drab and sappy than what I was expecting.

Having said that, the action sequences are great and the animation is awesome.

I thought it was a decent movie, maybe matinee price just for seeing the special effects on the big screen. Otherwise it wasn't the movie that everyone was hyping it up to be; at least in my case.

call me a party pooper, but I saw it and I think it was really really bad.

i can really care less about the graphics and animation. Its 2004, we should all be used to great CGI by now.

the story was long, it was the longest 2 hour movie in history probably. The lady next to me was asleep and i wanted to join her. The kids were quiet.. why? because half of them were asleep! its not a kids movie. A lot of adult jokes and some stuff you over protective parents dont want your kids to see, such as a mugging, and in one line, Elastigirl tells her Kids something along the lines of " the bad people want to kill us."

watch Toy Story instead.

I went in with low expectations, and came out really pleased. It was, in my opinion, definately better than Finding Nemo.

I loved how they took super-heroes and made them seem more 'real' and much easier to relate to.

The original deal between Pixar and Disney was for X number of projects (five maybe, don't remember). Pixar thought that meant five films, but when the films started hitting big, Disney held that it meant five different films _and any sequels to those five._ And apparently they made it stick. Jobs was steamed, and made it clear that Pixar was parting ways with Disney as soon as it could possibly do so.

Of course, if Eisner leaves and the new regime gets down on its knees and grovels before Jobs, Jobs might change him mind. He likes groveling.

First off, I must say that I'm shocked by the few negative reviews of the movie. I was personally amazed at the movie. It was graphically stunning (despite being used to CG), the story was good, the comedy was hilarious and the action was fantastic. I give it the distinct honor of a Xeph A+. This is not handed out to many movies!

Secondly, Pixar won't be "up for grabs", per se. Their contract with Disney will be fulfilled and they'll be able to work strictly on their own. They'll only need a good distribution deal like Lucas has with Fox regarding the Star Wars franchise, and all will be well in the world. Sadly, it means that "The Incredibles 2" may not be possible, or might be done by Disney (ala Lion King 1 1/2), which is a serious tragedy. Disney is a great company, but their penchant for rehashing the same story and characters doesn't fly in the 21st century. Pixar will do, IMHO, wonderfully as a stand-alone company, Jobs, Eisner and everyone else be damned.

It was very good, and I enjoyed the more "action movie" style of it compared to the other Pixar works. However, I don't feel that it was nearly as funny as som of the other films. I only found myself chuckling outwardly a few times. Someone earlier said they found it "hilarious". To me "hilarious" is along the lines of "laughing so hard you can't breathe/crying/wet your pants" funny, and nothing in this film came close to that for me. I would be curious whic specific scenes were able to do that for others.

I loved the movie. It will really suck if Disney makes a sequel, it should be done by Pixar. The story was great and the CG was great. :thumbsup:

One of the best movies in a while. I actually thought that it was a better "super-team" movie than X2. Better team use of powers (e.g. Dash propelling Violet's force field). In X2 (which was still great) we got more individual characters' stories in the same film.

In a lot of ways, Incredibles was the PG version of the Watchmen.

No one has commented on the 'short' at the beginning? I thought that was one of Pixar's worst efforts to date. Sappy song, sappy moral. Dumb dumb dumb.

The Incredibles, however, was excellent. Note that it's Pixar's first PG rating, everything else was G.

I really thought that Syndrome looked like the Heatmiser.

The short at the beginning was very ok. I got a chuckle out of it, but I wouldn't miss it if it wasn't on the DVD.

The movie was very good IMHO. Spoiler: For a split second I stopped when the flying disks crashed and exploded. It really was the first sign of "violence," that is, violence that is not implied, that i've seen in a Pixar film. It's all good, though. After that split second, I was over it and still enjoyed the movie 110%.

Saw it last weekend - great movie. The wife and I both loved the Elasti-girl stuck in the doors bit and when she walked past the mirror and looked at her butt (yes, the suit did make her butt look big).

So many funny parts i can't keep them all straight.

Saw this last weekend with my son... I haven't enjoyed a mainstream film like that in ages...

I thought The Incredibles was. And I'd been looking forward to that short since I first got a look at a clip of it several months ago.

IMHO, those who didn't like this movie are too jaded.

A few more things I noticed on the second viewing that y'all might (not) be interested in:

Spoiler: 1. When Bomb Voyage's bomb falls off Incrediboy and destroys the section of track, Mr. Incredible stops the train. Obvious Superman reference? In the Iron Giant, there is also a train-track repair scene and that movie is very much a homage to Superman.

2. Dash's hair reminded me a lot of Barry Allen.

3. Peanuts references: obviously Edna Mode is a Peanut. Also when Violet is panicking when Mr. Incredible flips the surveillance van (once they reach the city), the edges of her screaming mouth are all wavy like in the Peanuts when Charlie Brown screams.

I'll be interested to see if I'm right about any of this when the DVD comes out.

Will "zero-point energy" be the new Sci-Fi buzzword of 2005? They use the term in Half-Life 2 as well. Does anyone know what it means?
