The Grudge
Anyone else excited for this film to come out (10.22.04)? I'm not too sure about Sara Michelle Geller, and the story could either be cheesy, but I think I can get past that. I just want to be scared
![]() The horror it uses reminds me of the horror in The Ring. Lots of tweaky FX and such. I think (and hope) this and Saw will make for a good batch of Halloween releases ![]() -T The trailer (not as good as the one I saw on TV): http://advision.webevents.yahoo.com/sony/thegrudge/

I'm interested in seeing it as well. I think the pale girl with black hair is a little too similar to The Ring, but I don't think she'll be the focus of the "evil menace". Hopefully... There does seem to be a lot of promise though. The Ring wasn't nearly as scarey as it was hyped up to be, so I hope the only thing they have in common is the girl.
Definitely looking forward to it.

Is "Ju On: The Grudge" a Japanese film as well? I don't mind remakes at all, as long as they're true to the original. I took a film class and we did some reading on how lots of critics use The Ring as an example that remakes can actually better a movie. I too think it's scarier than Ringu.

I recently watch Ju-on: The Grudge by myself, at night. It's ok, slightly creepy, but I found myself laughing aloud at a few places. It's not a good sign when you laugh at a movie that is trying to scare you. A better movie is Tale of Two Sisters. One scene in particular creeped the fuck out of me, and I didn't laugh at all during the flick. Anyway, I'm sure the American version will be worse, but with better special effects.
