English Version Doraemon

I was wondering if anyone else had ever seen an English version of the Doraemon series ( http://www.ex.org/4.8/35-manga_doraemon.html ) that was named Albert and Sydney. I can remember the theme song going something like this

Look a propeller on top of your hat
Albert and Sydney a boy and his cat
Albert has magic, Sydney has fun
Lets go exploring, as they go soaring
And we'll be seeing Albert and Syndey again!

I think it was English not only in the language but also in the sense that it came from England so i'm not too sure if any Americans would know about it. It used to show around the 80's but I can't remember much else about since when I used to watch it I was a child. One thing I do remember that always struck me as odd was that even though the audio was in English all text in the cartoon itself for example signs on stores were in Japanese.

Just wondering if anyone had any info on this because it seems whenever I mention this series no one has a clue what I'm talking about. Thanks.

It's a new one on me. A lot of kiddy-style anime did make it over to the US in the 80's, mostly on Nickelodeon (Maya the Bee, Little Koalas, Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales, Little Prince to name a few) but I think we got passed over on Doraemon.

ok thanks
I've resigned to the fact that it must be a figment of my childhood imagination :) I have tried all kind of searches and I can find no web sites that even mention it. I was certain tho that this cartoon and Doraemon are one and the same. Did you ever see Jimbo the airplane? It was in that era of cartoons.

I Saw That Cartoon!

Hi M!

I was just looking up that cartoon on Youtube, when I couldn't find it, and your posting popped up. I was so happy to see that there was someone else who knows about Albert and Sydney out there. "A boy and his cat,
look at them soaring and go exploring.
Someday you will see them again........" Something like that. It showed on TV, on Saturday mornings in the early 90s in Barbados!

Take care and have a great day!

Hi,

I grew up in Barbados and I used to watch Albert and Sydney on Saturday mornings... funny, we were just having a discussion here in the office and I brought it up and no one knew what I was talking about... At least I know I'm not going crazy

Have a good one man.

I live in Barbados too and I can still remember Albert and Sydney. Used to show Saturdays between late 80s and early 90s. It was replaced by Raggy Dolls. Back-to-Front and crew. I feel we should petition CBC for some reruns. I was having this discussion with brother because my sisters dont seem to remember them. Don'f forget BraveStar, Jimbo and...... Fun School lol.
