The 4400

For those of you not in the know, The 4400 is a new miniseries showing on USA. The premise is that 4400 missing people have suddenly returned, some having been missing for decades, exactly as they were when they disappeared.

Tonight the series premiered with a two hour episode, and I gotta say it looks pretty good. If you didn't get a chance to watch it, you should definitely try to catch a rerun.

So what did you guys think?

Polyphobic 07-12-2004 05:44 AM

I agree. It was a fairly good show. Wasn't one of the main characters on Taken?

the_marq 07-12-2004 07:17 AM

I thought Taken was horribly long and boring. I think I stopped watching 'round about the 8th episode.

So with that in mind, is 4400 any good?

wonderwench 07-12-2004 07:52 AM

I stopped watching after the first hour. I found it rather cliche-ridden.

Batman976 07-12-2004 08:05 AM

It was a little cliche ridden, I'll agree with you there. Regardless, I think it has some potential. I read on another board someone describing it as "X-files meets X-men." Hopefully it'll break away from some of the stardard cliches, but even if it doesn't, I'll probably still enjoy it.

I haven't seen Taken, so I can't compare the two.

I got kind of fed up and tuned out when the uncle and nephew had their scene. It was just too one dimensional for me.

I was kind of excited about this, but the first thing that happens is a "comet" is heading right for Seattle... And then out of the blue China launches nukes at it? Then everybody else is like "well okay, we will too!" So then the missles impact it in like under 20 seconds and do nothing, and the next scene shows it coming towards Earth and it hasn't even entered the atmosphere yet. I felt this set the stage for the rest of the cliched, B-rate acting and hokey plot.

Polyphobic 07-12-2004 11:04 AM

Still, I felt it was a bit of an improvement over 90% of the other crap that is on the big networks and cable. Of course, that's not saying much.

I actually missed the first 20 minutes or so, so luckily I missed this. I've read elsewhere that the begining was pretty bad, though.

What was up with that ending? They tried to wrap up the whole thing in 13 minutes and failed miserably.

I just watched it as well, the 'Space' channel had it running as a marathon on Friday so I hit Tivo to record it.

I really liked the series, I took it for what it was, which is a medium budget made-for-tv even and really enjoyed it. I was really dissapointed with the quick wrap up as well and felt there had to be more.

Well, apparently there is. A second 'season' of the 4400 is coming in June. Woohoo!

Found this on the4400.com

I was watching the Shield I think something like that this last week and I saw a preview for the new season of the 4400 that starts in June. Looking forward to it as I liked the series alot. Not as good as Taken per se but still good.

Daval 10-27-2005 05:05 AM

Anybody been watching the second season of 4400?

It's allright, my wife and I are still watching it. I would prefer they work on the continuing storyline more rather than the 'freak of the week' formula they are doing, but I guess thats kind of intresting as well.

In Canada here it ended with the climax of Jordon Collier missing from his Coffin, so maybe he's got a zombie/resurrection power :)

Yeah, that was pretty fucked up, like missles can hit comets that are outside of earth orbit! News to me!! And they got lattitude and longitude mixed up. That sort of error (that could be so easily checked) drives me nuts.

I watched the whole first season on guard duty at my barracks (shows how hard I was working) and found it to be pretty good. Granted there's nothing special but it was cool. Who ever said, "It's a X-Files meets X-Men" type of show has it down right. It's okay for a TV series now and days. Well at least to me that is.
